He's trying to convince himself that Meyriattatsas is a legit QB...  Making fun of the Jaguars, lead by the (Insult Removed) BeerGut Bradley, provides a false positive that at least his QB is better than the Jaguars' QB

Bortles keeps getting better--- but he also keeps making costly mistakes. He's fun and painful to watch all in the same game.

I still think we're seeing more growing pains and we don't know where he'll level out.

So many folks tripping all over themselves to define the kid so early in his career is kinda' ridiculous.
Quote:Anyone who thinks Blake is the problem is clueless. This team would be getting blown out by 20+ every game without him.

How many times does he extend the play because our OLine is made of Swiss cheese?
This.  When you can't run the ball AT ALL you put everything on the QB.  Totally different situations in Minnesota and Oakland where defenses have to play the run which opens up the passing game.  Until the Jags can run the ball, Minnesota and Oakland will keep winning games and the Jags will keep losing...period.

The only definition that matters is that he's our Franchise QB.

He's already a top 15 QB in his 2nd season.  What more can you ask for from him?

It's bizarre that someone can watch every Jaguar game and think that Bortles is the problem.

You don't really understand football do you?  It's OK...

Let me break it down for my fellow Jaguar fans...  i watched the Saints game today...

oh you did?  when did you do that?

did you watch the Jaguars game then?  or did you use tape the game and fast forwarded it.

I think it's a toxic mix of wanting to place a label of either bust, or saviour after 18 games. I was very guilty of that with the last guy we drafted in the first round, however Blake had shown the potential( despite some painful turnovers) to make football relevant in Jacksonville again. It's at least fun to watch on sundays again, at least for 3 quarters.

Are you and the sandwich related?

Uh.. Yeah...

I have NFL Ticket and a DVR.  I don't care to watch the tack D...  Just watch Marriottatas on his drives.  It really wasn't that hard...

The last drive to win the game, they got a 20 yard run from their RB.  Then they got a 15 yard gain from a check down that traveled 5 yards in the air.  The final TD pass was a gimme by a weak D that had a blown coverage.

He's an inferior QB that has been carried for the most part by his RBs and recievers.  And the tack D is better than ours.  Oh and they are well coached when comapred to the (Insult Removed) that is the Jaguar Head Coach...

I mean, I'm not saying anything that's controversial.  The only things that the Jaguars have better than the tack is our WRs and our QB.  And their WRs do alot to bail out Murchas Murhriattates...

I believe his ability to extend plays against that rush today had Trent Green falling in love, lol.
Quote:The thing is, Bortles throws some of the dumbest int's. Like his 2nd one this game, there was absolutely no need to throw that ball into a sea of jets defenders...on 1st down with the game on the line no less.
^^ Completely agree.

His aggressiveness and will to make something happen takes over. As he matures, he'll learn how to "keep it in check" and not let his emotions override decision-making. There was still forty-some seconds left. He needs to just throw it away, eat 5 seconds, and play the next down trying to move the chains. He'll get there.

I remember watching Romo, Flacco, Favre in their first two or three seasons. They were VERY similar late in games when trying to make a last-minute drive. Those guys constantly tried to make something happen on every single play. In many cases,, they'd throw a terrible INT or do something bone-headed that cost them.

Don't you remember Romo? He was terrible in late 4th qtr drives,, forcing INTs that would cost them a game.

He matured. The past couple seasons,, he keeps his aggressiveness "in check", eats plays when he has to,, moves the chains,, and gets victories.

Flacco and Favre were the same.

Bortles is in the same boat right now. He's going to make bad mistakes by trying to do too much. He'll mature,, eat plays when he has to,, and not make as many mistakes.

He'll get there.

Your variations of Marriootttass have me cracking up!

Of course Blake still makes mistakes. He's only in his 2nd year and the Jets defense was blitzing him all game.

But Blake is leading this team even in the face of a bad coach. Get a real guy in here to be the HC and we will see a huge win turnaround.

2015 Per game stats:

Lets keep Blake's numbers in perspective. The stats aren't don't point to BB as the best QB in our division.

Yards %  Rating TD Int

Bortles 274.13 56.3% 83.2 2.1 1.25

Mariota 268.33 65.5% 101.5 2.2 0.83

That's what I don't get. Watch any young QB (Newton, Luck, Tannehill, Wilson). They all still make dumb throws. Hell, Newton had a late pick today against Green Bay that kept the Packers in the game.

You need to bring in other stats as well like dropped passes...

BB does have a lot of his game he needs to clean up and improve.  However, I wouldn't declare Mariota victor just yet.

I read a stat today. Something like Mariota is the second rookie QB with two games of 4 TD's passes. The other is RGIII. It made me chuckle.

Of course. But im not the one proclaiming he is unlike the majority of people in this thread.

They are playing at a similar clip.
