So where's derek carr?

The top one has to be Drew Brees
I'm actually serious. Given Blake's stats, would you then consider Hoyer a franchise talent? Mariotta?

No way. Hoyer is 30 years old. Blake is 23. Hoyer might be a serviceable QB like a Ryan Fitzpatrick or Matt Schaub. He can have some good seasons but no he doesn't pass the eye test as a franchise QB. Know how you know? Texans will draft a QB

Mariota maybe. I like him more than Jameis.

I don't think people are saying Blake is a franchise QB based solely on the stats; it's the upward trajectory coupled with the stats. If Blake was in his sixth season, people wouldn't be as bullish on him as they are now. It's the dramatic and obvious improvement he's made last season to this season that everyone is excited about.

Also Mariota is a franchise QB.
The Jaguars QB Blake Bortles (team is ranked 11th in the League in passing yards per game), Blake is ranked 9th in the NFL, he has an 83.2 rating,

175comp, 311att, 56.3%, 38.9att/g, 2193yards, 7.1avg, 274.1yds/g, 17Td, 10 INT

Quote:Of all the peanuts in this smelly turd we call a team, you guys want to call BB5 out? Seriously?

Sorry, I was upset yesterday. The interceptions are driving me to drink.

That's fair. I see what you mean.
Quote:I don't think id call DRob garbage at all. You can't do anything if the coaches don't play you. He's already shown he can be a legitimate threat at this level. I also think the DBs are better than this board gives credit. For complete lack of pass rush, the somehow still do a mediocre job. You know how hard it is to cover in this league? I think we'd have a different tune about them if we could pressure the QB, well, outside of gratz and cyp.
I like Denard as well. I forgot him, but they never give him carries anyway.

Our DBs are bad. Some might be playing decent for 2nd year players, but they can't carry the unit. They need to have surrounding talent. Good DBs to give up stats like they give up. Literally not one of them has an INT.
Only in Jacksonville can a 2nd year young QB throw up almost 400 yards against one of the best defenses in the NFL & get bad mouthed especially with a very weak pass blocking Oline which didnt even have Zane Beadles, or Linder in the starting lineup due to injuries...

and cann is struggling...

No, they're right. Bortles is a bust. The number of interceptions he's thrown, particularly in his rookie season, are too costly for him to turn it around; it's a habit that will always make him lose games. No quarterback worth their salt would throw that many. Look at the vast array of busts with high interception numbers:

Peyton Manning - 28 INTs in his first season (a 4.9% INT ratio, worse than anything Bortles has put up so far). Bust, will never amount to anything.

Brett Favre - left his first team with a 50% INT ratio (4 throws, 2 interceptions, at least one of them a pick 6). In his first full year as a starter managed 24 INTs, at a 4.6% ratio. Out of the league within a few years, clearly not starter material.

Eli Manning - has had 20, 25, and 27 INT seasons, all with higher INT percentages than Blake. Yeah, he's never going to make Superbowl MVP.

I know they are tired of waiting but then when they do get a superstar in the making they want to fire him for not being great on day one...

i mean him, the Allen Brothers, and (possibly TJ Yeldon) are very bright stars in the making on Offense..... (need to draft a superstar TE, and fix the Oline...)

and Telvin Smith he might make the Probowl this year which is crazy since he didnt even play his entire rookie year...

The team does have talent they simply need more time to develop.

And let's be clear for those people saying Blake throws interceptions at too high a rate. For eight years of his career, Favre threw a higher rate of interceptions than Bortles has this year. In three of those years he made the Pro Bowl. Manning had four years at least as bad as Bortles this year. One of those was a Pro Bowl year. Ben Roethlisberger has five years where he threw at least as high a percentage of picks as Bortles. One of those years he won some dinky little trophy - something to do with a superb owl, I think.

If you don't see blake as a franchise qb then you're dumb and misinformed football fan.
I'd love too see teenage dream marietta try to dink and dunk against the Jets defense. They'd need two stretchers to take him off the field, one for his torso and one for his legs.
Marcus Motorola got smacked around by the Bills defense. Tried to checkdown his way to victory and then when he had to open it up late to comeback, he threw a game losing pick.

Mario Marcusotta was nearly killed vs the Dolphins defense. They had to hire extra grounds crew to scrape him off the turf after that beatdown.

Point is, gimmick checkdown machine manicotti can light up the scrub defenses of the league, but when he plays an actual talented defense he gets smacked around.
The problem with Bortles' interceptions are that they are so devastatingly bad in the course of a game.  They're never the deep 50/50 jump ball that is practically a punt.  They're the pick six in the 2nd half, or the awful read on a final drive type.

With the league as pass heavy as it is now, he is still a middle of the pack (at best) quarterback this year.

That said, he is the best quarterback here since Brunell and has a legitimate shot at being the best we've ever had, so I can't bad mouth him too much.  Beggars can't be choosers.

Quote:So where's derek carr?

He would not be on there. He hasn't completed his 2nd year and I have no doubt he will have a better season than Bortles. His TD/INT ratio is insane for a 2nd year QB. Actually it's good for any QB no matter how long you've been in the league.

Did huttops really compare Blake Bortles to Brian Hoyer? SMH...
