Quote:Mariota is a poor poor mans Kaepernick and have you seen Kaepernick lately? I don't want to develop a QB. We tried that.

I disagree; Mariota is further long as a sophomore at Oregon than Kaepernick was at Nevada. Although not a finish product, Mariota consistently goes through his progressions and looks comfortable doing it (because he processes information faster), CK while at Nevada (and it's showing up in SF) isn't comfortable going through his progressions, he's a first/one read QB and when that read is taken away (watch the Carolina game) Kaepernick struggles mightily. I believe Mariota will eventually be the better player, with that said; Teddy Bridgewater is light years ahead of both of them.

Bridgewater is so good. He would solve the QB problem instantly!

HAHA! SUCK IT TREBEK!
Always about pocket passers with the ability to extend plays. Not runners who can throw sometimes... Gimme Teddy erryday and twice on Sundays ya heard
Quote:The race for the #1 overall pick in the 2014 NFL draft looks like it will come down to a strength of schedule tiebreaker between the Bucs and Jags, here are both teams opponents win-loss records and win percentages.

Jacksonville Jaguars W 62- L 49 Win% (55.85)

Tampa Bay Buccaneers W 61- L 46 Win% (57.00)

If the status remains quo over the next 9 weeks the Jaguars would win the tiebreaker.

Here is the remaining schedule for both teams

Jags                              Bucs

49ers                          @ Seahawks

@ Titans                      Dolphins

Cardinals                     Falcons

@ Texans                   @ Lions

@ Browns                   @ Panthers

Texans                        Bills

Bills                             49ers

Titans                          Rams

@ Colts                       @ Saints

Let the race begin..

Did you see the Jaguars power ranks by John, too funny I guess it might be the only time the Jaguars could say that they were not at #32 but then the Bucs went and won.  I think the Jaguars are still #32 based on the stats alone and I drink a lot of teal koolaid.

I really dont see the Bucs winning another game but maybe the dolphins.  I dont see the Jaguars winning another game because not much changed after this game against the titans.  The titans will probably improve by the next time we play them, while the jaguars will most likely stay the same but on the odd chance that they dont that would probably be the Jags only other win.

Rams and then Saints if they rest their starters.

If Poz isnt cleared and doesnt play you can already count the Cardinals as another Jaguars loss.

The ideal quarterback is one who can make any kind of throw and run with the ball whenever he needs to. The problem with so-called running quarterbacks is they make the wrong deicsions when the play gives them the option to either run or throw. That is partially the coach's fault. Give me a dual-threat quarterback over a pocket passer any day if he can throw like Peyton and run like Terrelle.

Not true. The Cardinals beat the Texans at home. Another team they beat was the Buccaneers. Don't assume they are as good as their record.

The whole defense stepped up at Tennessee. Geno Hayes finally showed us why David Caldwell signed him, so he obviously is improving. We literally won the game on a defensive play.
Oooooooooh Noooooo....

We won. And are STILL in the race for most special team in the league. Imagine that... And some of you thought the world was ending.

When one of the best (if not the best) shutdown corners in the NFL is covering your best WR and your best WR is named Cecil Shorts, and on top of that, you QB is named Chad Henne, it isn't going to make for a pretty day for the Jaguars.

Don't be fooled by the win on Sunday. The defense overcame some dreadful QB play and you can't expect that again.

Hehe, you caught me.

Eh. I made no claims. Just an absurd amount of wishful thinking for no real reason at all, other than the slim chance that all plays out based on my crazy dreams and allows me to laugh at the crowd of folks on here years from now that declared this season resulting in anything other than 0-16 and Teddy Bridgewater to be a complete waste and somehow a mistake in and of itself.

Of course I want the team to turn around, get a franchise quarterback and not only be competitive but GOOD. I just disagree with the desire to throw in the towel and hope for a winless season and this one particular guy everyone is so infatuated with. Look at all the quarterbacks from 2 years back that were drafted and not named Andrew Luck. Don't get me wrong, I'd take Luck over them all. But Bridgewater isn't being labeled as Luck-caliber by any majority of "experts" so I just don't understand the blinders so many are wearing. At least consider that if we end up with the top pick, or top 3 even, that someone else is in play. Or, if by then Teddy Bridgewater is being hailed to be THE man without a doubt, then so be it.

We'll get a quarterback. Just hoping for something positive and more than our typical history of drafting "the" guy.

Dreadful is a little bit too kind.  Neither Henne nor Gabbert will be on an NFL roster after this year.

Maybe one of them will stay on as a backup to the rookie if nobody better can be found in free agency. But that topic is for a different thread.

I agree. Mariota is a fraud. Ninja
Your fantasyland is very interesting.

Just so you know... You are not going to find a QB like that. Probably ever.

So the ideal quarterback would be one who can make every throw, scramble in the pocket, throw on the run, and get first downs on bootlegs and draws.
