Him.

Or someone who wins just enough games to ever stop us from drafting that one player we need to put this franchise back on track.

You know, the usual.

He is the one, the only, the mighty savior of the Jacksonville Jaguars! He will, without a doubt, contribute to wins and point this franchise in the right direction! He is anything but usual! He is the Terrific Teddy! He is the Breathtaking Bridgewater! Prepare yourself Jacksonville for he is coming!

This message brought to you by the Tanker's Army.

<span style="font-size:14px;">You guys are ridiculous.

First things first, how do you know we will get the first overall pick? There is a lot of football left to be played and four teams can pick over us. We can easily drop to #5 depending on what they do.

I actually own a crystal ball and I am here to confirm to you that we will indeed have the #1 overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft.

That's how we know, you just haven't been in the 'know' like the rest of us.

Stop lying to me. Everyone knows there is no way anybody can know the future without being God.
We're not tanking.  We just really, really suck.

I have a crystal ball and it tells me the future.

No need to get all angry cause you don't have one.
Where's the dude from Tampa ? He's been rather scarce lately.....

Quote:If we do draft Bridgewater and he turns out to be a bust, I'm going to run every one of you tankers into the ground.

This presumes the "tankers" definitely want Bridgewater.

My arguments haven't specifically been for Bridgewater (though I like him as a QB and as a top pick).  My arguments have always been for improved access to the talent pool.

The thing is, it isn't important for the "tankers" to get the pick right, but the team.

If Caldwell thinks Clowney is the best player, I want Caldwell to have access to him.  If he thinks it's Bridgewater, I want Caldwell to have access to him.  The only way to guarantee access to either of these players (or anyone else) is through superior drafting position.

What will you say to the tankers if the Jaguars don't get the top pick, and the top pick succeeds wildly with the other team and our lesser pick busts?

What will you say to the tankers if the Jaguars end up with the top pick, they pick someone other than Bridgewater and that pick is a great player?  Would the "tankers" be wrong then?
Quote:I will never apologize or subscribe to a losing attitude.  Tankers are as low as band wagoners in my opinion.

Why?

At least tankers are willing to stay with the team despite the overwhelming losses and, in their own way, want what's best for the team.

Bandwagon jumpers can claim neither of these things.

See he knew you would yell at him... because of his crystal ball.
If we lose out the rest of the season not only will we have the #1 pick, but we also will get the #1 pick in every other round instead of swapping with another team that has the same record.

At least Dave could make us all laugh during our blowouts at home. Happy laughs too, not the sad laughter that we have come so accustomed to over the years.

Who the pick happens to be is irrelevant.  By intentionally losing to gain "access" is dishonest and undermines every honorable concept of sportsmanship and competition.  Once one team is perceived to benefit from tanking then others will jump in the fray.  Pretty soon the whole league assumes the perception of being rigged.  If fans and other teams don't believe that a team is playing to the best of their ability, then win-loss records are nothing but scripts.  I liken tanking to people faking injury or illness to draw disability.  How many moral and ethical, not to mention legal, lines have to be crossed to gain "access" to that money?

A philosophy of tanking is fundamentally dishonest and insidiously destructive.
is doug martin overrated? hes been thoroughly outplayed by the two backups
