Full Version: Who is Andrew Luck?

Quote:Luck is currently the best starting QB in our division, hands down.

Until that changes he will continue to be the division favorite each season.

That's who Luck is.

Hey, a rational and intelligent Jags fan in this thread! That makes 4 of us.... (the guy that claimed Luck was/ is better than Rodgers is a bit out there....)

Quote:Some of these luck enthusiasts say he's better than Brady. Brady has only been out of the top ten in passer rating one time in the last ten years. Luck hasn't even been in the top ten yet.

Then these guys will say stats don't mean anything. You need to watch him. He passes the eye test. People only pass the eye test so long without putting up the stats.

In my opinion, this year will tell us if luck is going to take that next step or if he isn't going to ever be much more than the slightly above average QB he has shown to the world the last two years.
I do not think that Luck is better than Brady. However, isn't it interesting that when Brady loses Gronkowski, and has a less than stellar receiving corps, he falls out of the top 10 in passer rating?

Yet, when Colts fans say that Luck plays behind one of the worst O-lines in the league, without Dwayne Allen, and without Reggie Wayne, and with virtually no run game, it mostly goes unnoticed. People just spout out random stats for why Luck is just 'average'.

Brady gets complimented for his efforts in taking his team to the playoffs, while Luck gets no credit for it. Instead, he gets blasted for throwing picks, which is understandable, but also a byproduct of less than stellar talent surrounding him.

The media loves Luck and I think he gets a lot of credit. Now Dwayne Allen has never really done anything in the NFL so its tough to really get an idea of what he nay bring to the table if he was healthy.

But gronk has been out more than just last season and Brady always did work. I don't think ridley, vereen, bolden or any of those guys are legit rbs on another team. Brady also makes Edelman look like a legit NFL WR.

And its more about sustained success. Brady has been doing it for over a decade. I've seen him do more with less for so long that I actually hated him. That year in the playoffs when the jags played in foxboro, I was there and I wanted to punch tom Brady right in the scroat. He's just too good.
When he plays like a top qb he should get praised like one. It is bizarre why people are in a rush to give him over the top praise which he hasnt yet earned.

Brady has made it to 5 superbowls. He is regularly at or near the top of statistics. He came into the league with zero hype, he has earned every bit of recognition he has got.

Dwayne Allen was the highest rated rookie TE in 2012. He is an excellent pass catcher and blocker. If you feel he hasn't done anything in the NFL, that's fine, he's not a stand out, yet. But you can argue that the best rookie TE would've continued to progress throughout his career.

Brady is a great QB. One of the best. He has sustained success for years, but you can make an argument that the Patriots are a model for sustained success. This includes when Brady was injured and Cassel won 10 games. How many games would the Colts win without Luck?

As for Gronk, yes, he's missed some games and it's always had a negative impact, but Brady and the Patriots overall were good enough to overcome the void left behind. This sounds similar to what Luck did last year.

As for the Patriots RBs, they are successful because of the system they are in. Vereen is very fast and is used in space, similarly to how they used Faulk for years. That's good coaching. The other RBs are used in committee. No argument here, other than their O-line has consistently been better than what Luck has had to work with.

Never said that Brady wasn't a good QB, or that he doesn't deserve the recognition that he receives. I think he's one of the best ever.

My point is that even Brady will have a drop in stats on a team without his #1 TE, and a poor receiving corps. Luck didn't have his #1 TE last year and lost Reggie Wayne for over half a season, but still made it to the playoffs. The Colts arguably had the worst level of talent of any team that made it to the playoffs. That's why Luck is so hyped. Without him, they wouldn't have even sniffed the playoffs.
well i've just stuck $50 (Australian) on the Saints. So feel free to make fun of me when Luck plays all world today...

Luck looks like about the 10-15th best QB in the NFL again tonight.
I'm sorry but how can you call him a top QB when you see him play against Brees.

He doesn't quite have Bortles arm either...

You are being kind.  Smile

I mean I know the media loves the guy but I watched him for two years at Stanford (and he was a very very good college QB) and I've watched him since he's been in the NFL and he really just hasn't gotten better. I'm not trying to be a doucher but he just really isn't that good.

I think he's on the same level as a guy like tannehill. I think Dalton is a better QB.

Flame away but if you really unbiasly look at it. Andrew luck is really just average.
Unbelievable. He just threw a pick and it isn't called????

Ehndrew Luck

Not sure what that official saw or why Payton didnt challenge.
Imagine if Dalton was playing like this. Amazingly the announcer just blamed the oline and receivers...Am I watching the wrong game???

McCown showing how its done. That scramble was hilariously slow

C'MON NOW!!!!!!  Andrew luck don't throw no INTs.

IS YOU CRAZY?

McCown is all-pro in preseason.
I'm sure they will find some flags on his next drive, so everyone can slobber all over him again...
