Quote:I would just like to say, RW went almost TWO full quarters without completing a pass. If that were Luck & the Colts, the Colts would of been down by 21+ points.

Also, if that was Luck on that last INT of the game, everyone here would be claiming he "choked".

Divisional Rivals harder on divisional rival than a team in an opposite conference?  You don't say!

I remember having this conversation 10+ years ago.

Peyton or Brady.

Turns out both guys are pretty good. Different, but good.

Well, at least you guys are admitting to your bias.

You can *attempt* to insult me all you want, but you know it's the truth.

LONG LIVE the "Who is Andrew Luck?" thread!!!!!!!!

May the blossoming off season bring more downtime and continued posts.

Back to back superbowl appearances what a choker

Nope, go back and read what I said.

I DO NOT think RW is a choker. At all.
Luck is a top 3 QB

At what?

At the QB position in the AFCS.

For his hype being ahead of his play. I remember when Reggie Bush came out of college with his huge reputation and the talking heads were saying how Reggie Bush being in the backfield was the reason New Orleans were winning (Despite like a 3ypc and no big runs) the threat was that big they weren't defending against the pass.

The Narrative that Luck was a top NFL qb was decided to be true by many before he got near the Colts

How has he not met the hype, in your opinion? (Not intended to be argumentative).

I see him coming into the league with enormous hype, and I agree that it was too much (which by the way was not his fault, he just kept quiet and balled out, unlike RGIII). His first year he won 11 games and set numerous records and made it to the playoffs. His second year, he won 11 games, set numerous records and won a playoff game. His third year, he led the league in TDs, won 11 games and won 2 playoff games.

He unfairly has been criticized in comparison with players like Manning, Brady, Brees, Roethlisberger, all of whom have numerous more years in the league. Once those guys retire, Luck will be among the top, would he not? In your opinion, has this not met the hype? (Again, not being argumentative, but from a realistic standpoint, Luck is actually well ahead of schedule regardless of the hype).

Before this past year, he looked similar to Andy Dalton in the playoffs.  Looked awful in the losses, and played a huge factor in them.

He has not met the hype.  The hype suggested rings and All Pros by now.

In his defense, the expectations/hype were so lofty they weren't reachable.  They were ridiculous.

He still throws too many picks/makes boneheaded decisions for a guy who isn't supposed to be making those kinds of mistakes.

But if your measure is Manning and playoff disappointment early in his career, then I suppose you could say he's on track.  But the bar was higher than that.  He was sold as being peerless.

Stopped reading right here.

EDIT: I'd also like to point out you are saying ringS. PLURAL. I can't stop laughing at this.  Laughing  Laughing

To the bolded, it's good that you agree that they expectations and hype were lofty, too lofty. But you can see that those are out of his control, right? Is it possible that you are unfairly judging him for something that he is not the cause of? If we were discussing Richard Sherman and the hype that surrounds him, I can agree with you to criticize him with great scrutiny because he brought it upon himself.

But with Luck, could the unfair scrutiny be simply because he plays for the Colts and not your favorite team? I grant you that he does turn over the ball too much, but does Luck playing for the Colts affect how he is viewed, especially in replacement of Manning who has 10+ more years of experience than Luck?

Either way, I appreciate your viewpoint.

Fair points.

As an opponent, I don't view Luck as the challenge that Manning was or is.  Is that fair?  Perhaps not.  But that certainly has more influence than whether or not he plays on my team.  I don't envy you having him as I did Manning, either.  Perhaps respect is a better description than envy.  I wanted us to go after Manning when you let him go, but knew he probably would have never gone for that even if we were as competitive or attractive to him as Denver at the time.  I can't say the same about Luck and Bortles.  I feel our future at the position is just as bright.

I literally said that.  Just ask coltswarriors.  He's the master of pretend conversations with himself.

If the reality doesn't fit the agenda, create your own reality, I suppose.

Pirkster there is no point arguing. If you don't call a Colts player elite you are saying they suck in his world.
