D-A-R-F-T is an accepted alternate spelling for that mystical black hole of talented young football prospects where the Jaguars are expressly forbidden by the football Gods to select skilled players - save two every other season if the moon wanes over a neap tide.

Should the Jaguars select three or more talented players in any draft they shall be punished by the football gods with a hex upon their leadership. Often in the form of a snake skinned charlatan professing to hold keys to victory, but ultimately lacking in wisdom completely. When this curse is lifted the Jaguars must return to their place in the universe - darfting only 2 gifted athletes every other year.
Example:

Hutchinson got picked in the NFL Draft
Walker got picked in the NFL Darft

He’s not getting doubled now.

I don’t care about what the other players are doing.

Travon needs to have a stat line that gives him about 8 sacks this year. If he does that I’ll continue to be cautiously optimistic.

5 sacks or less would be extremely disappointing

Travon is most definitely getting doubled. Maybe not on every play, but I make it a point to try and watch him on every snap and he is seeing plenty of double teams.

Wrong guy.  Travon is #44  Smile
I could be wrong, but I thought I saw a stat this week saying Travon is only doubled 10 or 12% of his snaps.
Pretty low as the top guys are seeing 20-30%

I'm still rooting for him to find some ways to shed blocks, but he's not there yet.
He is just disappearing in games it's a bad look. The fact Chaisson is getting on the field is a bad sign.

He's not disappearing - he just isn't getting to the QB.

I saw a metric on twitter this morning that had him 9th in the league vs the run among outside pass rushers.

The position is classically a rotational spot so guys don't get gassed. Chaisson getting 20 snaps a game doesn't tell you jack [BLEEP] about Travon. It just means our pass rush depth sucks. That'll be Smoot with 20 snaps soon anyway.

We tried him out at punter but he kept shanking the ball to the right.
I don't like seeing Chassion having half the amount of pressures as Walker. I know it's early, and good for Chassion actually producing something but cmon Walker, dude sucks badly and he's nearly on par with ya.

....something tells me we'll be running a lot of third down plays to the left side, then.

Nah, he plays well... The problem is you took a Tyson Alualu 1st overall and let Hutch go to his hometown, the far superior rusher. You don't take run stuffers 1st overall. You take the pass rusher, this entire league is built around helping or disrupting the QB. IF you can't do that, you just aren't that valuable. I still hate the pick and even if he turns out to be a long tenured Jag who is "solid" I will still disagree with the move. There were far superior prospects to be had. Baalke got aroused by 44's underwear drills at the combine and forgot tape exists.
At this point, it seems pretty obvious we picked the wrong guy. We should have taken Hutchinson. I still think Walker will be a decent contributor, though. I look at him being kind of a Rashan Gary type. The Packers drafted Gary in the first round and he didn't do much of anything for two years. Packer fans are still trying to convince themselves how good he is. Like Walker, he makes the occasional splash play, but he goes long stretches where he is nearly invisible. Disappointing, but not a total bust.

What I try to tell myself to make it easier is that if you average out the value we got with both of our first overall picks those two years, we still came out way ahead. Trevor is the type of player who doesn't come along very long, and we were extremely blessed to be in the position to get him when he did come along. If Walker only turns out to be a slightly better than average player, we are still killing it if you average out two picks.
Would be awesome if it just suddenly clicked for Walker and Chaisson one day. Our Defense is underrated. With an elite pass rush, we are menacing.

Agreed, we are just missing that pass rush piece from being a pretty damn good defense. Not sure what has to happen though to make it click for Walker and Chaisson. Coaching? Mentorship? I really wish we would have signed Calais just so he could teach the young guys something.

It's not about coaching and mentorship, it's about motivation.

Both of those guys got paid already, they'll never be hungry enough to care about learning to be great, they're fine with resting on their laurels.

How was it Vic liked to put it? It's hard getting out of bed when you're wearing silk pajamas.

LOL .  Both of these guys got paid already?  A rookie contract is peanuts compared to what they could make.  Good grief.

Both of them have already made well north of ten million dollars.

Some guys want to be the best and get a big second contact, some guys seem fine with whatever they can get without having to put in mental effort.

Either that or they're just too stupid to learn to play their position well, because it doesn't appear to be about being physically incapable of better production.

If you say so.  Wow.
