Let us hope the light is coming on.
Walker is helping also with the run defense.
Trevor wasn’t Trevor until after Halloween years 2. Looks like Walker is catching his footing. He gets to 8 sacks this year I think it’s a win

Jaguars EDGE pressure and win-rate rankings (per PFF) among 110 players with at least 50 rushes.

Josh Allen: 18th in pressures, 31st in win rate
Travon Walker: 34th in pressures, 44th in win rate
K'Lavon Chaisson: 90th in pressures, 105th in win rate
He went from 44th in pressures to 34th in one week.  Hopefully he can continue to climb in the pressure rankings and this defense will continue to shine.  We do need Campbell back though

IIRC Shew put up 50 attempts. Not trying to dump on Walker, but without some perspective of who the 35-44th ranked guys played (if they played at all) and how many attempts they faced is a big factor in whether you deem this promising or an upward trend or a convenient coincidence.

I'll say this - if Allen keeps being as disruptive as he's been so far this season, Walker will have ample opportunity to get his pressures. Here's hoping he does capitalize.

Let's hear it for playing with leads!
He is finally playing like a top pick!

(in the 3rd round)

It's because of our run defense.  If teams continue to not being able to run against this defense they will get more opportunities because teams will have to pass and especially if we get a lead.  When we get Hamilton back our run defense might be elite and possibly the best in the league.

That's one area this defense is much better at than the 2017 defense.  Our 2017 defense we had one of the worst run defense in the league and we traded for Dareus and if put us about middle of the pack run D.  This defense is much better against the run, up to this point at least
Glass half full.  In the long term, Travon may be much more affordable if he isn't elite.  By then the Jags have so much $$ sunk in on T. Lawrence that the Jags will need to let go of some real talent.

Heck, at least we're not comparing Bryce Young to CJ Stroud as the Panther fans are currently doing .... not only that but Carolina gave up their 2024 1st round pick (to the Bears) to get Bryce Young so they can't even shift gears and get Caleb Williams or Drake Maye

Yeah. That one stings for sure. I honestly didn't envy any of the teams back in April in need of a QB. Stroud has admittedly been a major surprise. Young not so much. Richardson not so much. Both of those guys had some concerns coming into the NFL.

Height and size for Young and durability and passing with Richardson. Richardson at least looks decent when he's healthy. Just needs to protect himself better.

The only other two QB's I am waiting to see start now is Hooker and Levis. Not sure what the tacks are waiting on given Tannehill's continued struggles but Hooker is probably going to be waiting awhile with Goff playing well.

To get back on topic though. I think Walker is showing steady improvement in the main area must of us are concerned in. He might have a shot at Carr this Thursday. Could be the guy that clinches our win.

You're not stating the Dareus impact correctly.  The trade for him was almost a worst to first transition immediately after the trade as far as run defense went.  We might have ended the season middle of the pack for the year, but from the game after the Dareus trade to end of season we were one of the best if not the best against the run.

EDIT: Well we weren't exactly tops in the league. More like 7th in the league once Dareus was brought on board, but still better than middle of the pack as well. Point is, we were stout against the run with Dareus though we are on pace to best those run defense numbers this year.

We were much improved when we got Dareus as i stated.  We weren't the best run defense when we got Dareus though, we were 5th i believe after the trade.  We had the best pass defense in the league.  The Vikings actually had a better defense than us that year as great as the D was.  Right now we are 3rd in run D and have a better run D than we did in 2017 even after the Dareus trade.

Truth.

The other glaring difference is this squad also has Foley Fatukasi. 2017 team did not have that.
Fatukasi's run grades may be down this year compared to last year after getting dinged up, but he and Hamilton split time last year lined up over center almost right down the middle.
Hamilton was the one getting better push in the pocket against the pass while Foley's strength has usually been vs the run.

Dareus wasn't added to a team with a Foley Fatukasi to split NT duty with.
He was added to a team with Eli Ankou and Abry Jones.

Big difference.

Hamilton will help this run defense, but it's what he might do vs the pass that excites me about his return.
he was TRASH tonight, what is wrong with him? He showed more flashes as a rookie, now nothing. We need another pass rusher BADLY
He’s not getting off of blocks.
Invisible outside of missing tackles tonight.
He needs to play down and inside. This experiment at outside linebacker needs to end after this Pittsburgh game.

Yep. Probably invisible again next week.

CB Aaron Beasley has more career sacks than Walker. Beasley also had 5 sacks one season which is also more sacks than Walker has had in a season.
He's not very good but we won. I'm gonna enjoy the win

Won't go that far, he was getting pressure, but checkdown charlie was dumping off ASAP. In spite of that Carr still took a few good licks.

I think we've forgotten just how bad it was when Chaisson was the guy playing opposite JA.
I think bye week we trade for another pass rusher and move Travon inside. At minimum another guy in the rotation.

He’s pocket pusher. Let him do that from the middle.
