I’ve watched 4 Hutch sacks were he just wasn’t blocked at all. All of Travons he’s actually had a highlight reel level play to beat his guy.

Take out the blown assignments and they have equal sack numbers and that’s with Travon out of position. I’d bet on Travon out producing him as time goes on. Hutch is pretty much she’s already developed, Travon hasn’t even learned technique yet or play his natural position And has similar numbers.

As of now, I have to agree with you. Hopefully the potential will ultimately turn into performance but for now, he hasn't delivered on the elite kind of numbers you should expect from a #1 choice who was taken over Hutchinson. I hated the pick on draft night and I still do.
Sorry but Hutch isn't making this play..

Walker was a monster this past Saturday.

I saw that play and thought to myself... Walker might be the only person on the Jags that Henry can't stiff-arm to the ground. Walker just seems to match him in size, length, and strength. Even when Henry is at full extension, Walker is still firmly gripped to his jersey. I think this kid has a TON of potential... he's just gotta pick up a few new moves.
Hutch had two sacks VS GB I think and they were not mind blowing plays. He gets lost in a pile alot on running plays.

Walker might not get the free run sacks, but he is a monster and is only getting better. The way he manhandled Henry more than 1 time shows how good he can be

He's already really good against the run, draws a bunch of double teams and is starting to progress as a pass rusher, which is where he was incredibly raw at coming into the NFL.

They definitely need to let him rush with his hand in the dirt more often. His get off is so much faster out of a 3 point stance.

Yup Hutch gets the classic Dante Fowler clean up sacks.

Walker drew two holding penalties on Saturday, both of which would have likely been sacks otherwise. He also had a great rush (and used some hand technique he wasn't using early on in the season) that made Dobbs run up into the pocket that resulted in a RRH sack.

And he obviously made multiple plays in the run game.

I think both will have good careers, but as Lucky said above, Walker's potential is so damn high. He learns to work those hands a little better, add a counter move into his pass rush and he'll be a nightmare to deal with. You can see it starting to come along though.

There was another play on Saturday where he instantly blew the RT back 5 yards. Dude is strong strong.

Here's the pressure and assist by Key that results in the RRH sack (2nd clip). Notice the chop Walker used on this rush. Early on in the season it was mostly just a bull rush you'd see him use.

And here's him blowing up the RT, while taking Henry out of the play at the same time.

Hutchinson has been fortunate for how some of his sacks came about this year. In the GB game, I think it was Runyon that came up from his side to “help” block him but instead bounced into him and ended up unintentionally springing him from the lineman that had him tied up and he then had a straight shot to Rodgers for the sack. Still think Walker was the right pick, but if I were a Detroit fan I’d be happy with Hutch too.
Beast.
Walker needs more stun rushes to the inside. Good in the run game, gives us a physical presence on the edge. Looked like he could actually tackle Henry solo. Drew a couple of crucial holding calls against the Tacks, but it hasn't been a sensational rookie season. Can still develop into a pro bowl caliber player I think but still raw.
Good pick baalke...good pick

Yup, that was his first sack of the night. It was due to Coverage and #76 knocking him away from the RT who had him locked up. And I agree, I think both teams should be/are happy with each of their picks.

The 2nd sack was nice though. He straight up cooked the RT. Pretty sure they benched him (the RT) shortly after that sack.

EDIT: Although rewatching both clips, he could have easily been called Offsides on both sacks, especially the 2nd one.
Guys, they made the correct decision here. I admit I was not a fan of it when they drafted him. While Hutch is a good player, Walker is better now and will get only better as time goes on. Walker doesn't get free runs at the QB because every OC plans for him. After his first game they all took notice.
Agreed that each player fits his team. We need a walker to deal with Henry.
Walker had a hell of a game on Saturday night. I love the level of physicality that he brings to the game.
By the end of this year, during this next upcoming season. Travon Walker will have double digit sacks and counting. Book it.

My reasoning? Our offense takes a huge leap forward this upcoming season and puts up too many points early to where the defense can pin it's ears back and just focus on the QB. Especially in this division.

Honestly. Not worried about Henry at all anymore. Dude has one more season (maybe) of above average play and then he’s going to fall off so fast (like all RBs).

Just depends on if he stays on Tennessee.  If he didn’t get run into the ground, with his physical attributes, he could have several more good years.

Trayvon is a world class Edge Setter.  Dude has strength of a Stallion.

I remember watching the CFB Championship last year.  Hutch couldn't do squat unless it was 1v1 and rush loaded.  The minute Hutch had to do anything to set an edge or to fight off mutliple blockers...  He was neutralized.

I'm happy that he's with Detroit.  And he's done good there.  Good for the guy.

But is too soft to play in the South.  Sorry.  Walker is the guy for the South.  Here in the south, we have run heavy teams that try to dominate the line of scrimmage with their RBs.  Hutch can't hang in those situations.  And it was exposed during that CFB Championship.

Trayvon Walker was the right pick, and last Saturday night proved it.  Walker will continue to get better.  Hutch has hit his ceiling.

Walker isn't better. He's a monster. Hutchinson is CLEARLY more technical and relies on that and his motor for production. Don't get me wrong, Walker has a motor, too, but he's not there yet with his technique. That doesn't keep him from manhandling dudes that bigger and better skilled. When he starts to add tools to his arsenal, he is going to be dominant. He's just a freak. I haven't seen this comparison, but he reminds me of Calais Campbell. Imo, if he adds a couple more pass rush techniques, the sky is the limit.

This.

He will have this entire off season to actually learn to rush the passer. He wasn't tasked with it in college much and the first season in the NFL doesn't allow time for learning technique. Next year due will rack up 10-12 sacks.
