It's a good thing they don't post the "Forum Topics" on those huge score boards.

Quote:If you have 20 starts you are not almost a rookie. Dumbest thing i have ever read.
I went too fair in saying he was a almost a rookie.  But being hurt six games into a year you started out of position and having your Oline coach get cancer and not be there to teach you the nuances of the position the second year certainly doesn't help.  Add in suspect guard play next to him while coming back from an injury.

Halfway through this season we will see what Marrone and added strength can make him a quality LT  If by week 9 he is still a liability we draft his replacement next year.
Quote:Forget Boselli, he was outplayed in his first two years by Monroe, Barnes, and even Pearson.

You made some very good points until here ^^.

He's been very close to both Monroe and Barnes.  Maybe even closer to Salaam.  But Pearson?  Sheesh... As questionable as he's been, he's been better than that.  The only worse than Pearson we had was "Turnstile Todd" Fordham.

Pearson had chicken legs and no drive.  As soon as he remotely started to resemble a LT, he got injured.

Agree.  We may even bring in competition/replacement via FA or draft regardless.
Ryan from Tampa, FL:
John, some of these videos of Luke Joeckel in practice have been very concerning. Getting absolutely dominated by Ryan Davis. Furthermore, he struggled early in the scrimmage on Saturday. If he continues to struggle in the preseason games, does Josh Wells or Brennan Williams have any shot to take that left tackle spot? Thanks!
John: I did see one video in which Joeckel was beaten by Davis pretty badly. He did struggle early in the scrimmage. If he plays like that every game, every series, every whatever … sure, he could be replaced. I think you could probably find stretches like that for every Jaguars offensive lineman this camp – OK, maybe not Brandon Linder -- and for a whole lot of other players on the roster. Look, this Joeckel thing will play out. The Jaguars believe he has been better this training camp than last year and believe he will improve. If they’re wrong, we’ll know soon enough. Stay tuned.

High praise to Linder...

That's not what I remember. I was no fan of Pearson, but he wasn't a sack machine. Maybe his run blocking wasn't very good, but Fred Taylor had some good seasons when he was in. He was only a starter for two years, so that's what we've got. I'd say Barnes was much better than the other three in his first two years (he dropped off a lot after that), followed by Pearson, then Monroe (and I was a big Monroe fan) and finally Joeckel. Joeckel was better than Salaam.

Fordham, DeMarco, and Whimper were all RTs. I'm only considering Joeckel at LT, but he was as bad as any of those three in his short time at RT.

Hmm

^^^ Kevin may be better at pass protection than Joeckel
James Harrison just abused......No!........He absolutely destroyed Joeckel for the strip, Forced Fumble and Sack!

What does Joeckel do after the play??? He slaps the turf instead of helping his QB up.

What a guy! What a player!

Guys a clown

lol probably
Good to see we've picked our Goat of the Season already.
least he settled down the last two series

The answer the the thread titles: help is not on the way...haha
Looks like him, Mathews, and Manziel are figuring out college is different from the pros.

Against the backups?
If he wasn't a first round pick then he would be cut already.
