Quote:i thought Pasztor played better on the left side

As young as Pasztor is, I expect him to get picked up quick.

As long as he passes his physical.  He's had eye surgery, and different doc teams have different opinions.  You could basically fail if they don't like the chart, even if able to play.

Joeckel is average. I think we all agree on this. He has the potential to become better than average. I think we all agree on this too. This year is his make or break year to make the leap from average to above average or better. If not we'll be looking for his replacement next offseason.

Agreed?

Now let it die....

sorry.  one more dead horse.   i was all for drafting joeckel because i believed a right tackle is almost as valuable as a left tackle.  obviously our gm agreed but then saw joke couldnt play right tackle so he made a move.  well now we have parnell and he is looking good thus far.  but to say we made a mistake of taking luke is not correct.  everyone thought he was the best player in the draft.  well most.  but we needed 2 strong tackles and so far luke is not one of them.  not horrible but i was hoping i saw a different body size than a big tight end.

To be honest I think LT Luke Joeckel is below average (as I think PFF ranked at the start of the year which was being kind after last season's performance).

He has made some improvements under Marrone to be average at the end of PreSeason (barely), but he is the weakest link on the OLine (its not even up for debate, its a fact)!

and that is sad because he has the most important position on the line (or a tie with Center which is probably the 2nd weakest on the team but far above LT Luke).

If Luke can get it together this year the offense & Blake Bortles primarily should be very successful (heck the oline might even be considered above average), but if Luke struggles it could result in Blakes injury and poor stats.

No, Joeckel is n o t average... he has regularly demonstrated below average ability in real games and played a significant part in our poor offensive performance last season. It is possible that he may one day become a good LT... but it's also possible that he may never exceed anything other than average (which right now he is below).

This should be the season that Joeckel shows us, without question, what he's made of. We'll see...
Luke's angle rolled pretty badly. I'm curious how serious it is.
He was in a cast, on crutches and in the process of an MRI.  I think its safe to say he wont play next week.

He seemed to be playing very well too. Every time he starts to show promise he gets injured. Major props to him for going back out there with a serious injury.
As sad as it sounds, this team is desperate for him to play. Sam Young was a turnstyle.

Luke goes out and the offense falls on its face. Must be a shock for many of you. Maybe some of you can ease up a bit on him. He's not a future hall of famer but he's good enough. Aside from Blake, he's probably the guy we can least afford to lose on offense.

The offense sucks with him in the game too, so does it really matter?

You're just being ignorant

Bortles had time in the pocket prior to the injury.  They were also winning up front with the running game.  Yeah, the offense sucked.
Quote:Why dont you mods ever quote HIGH SCORE when he posts his Joeckel hatred? Are you afraid you all wont be buddies anymore or what?

Couple things:

Pretty sure I haven't participated in this thread for a long while.

Also, it's not Joeckel hatred. I don't hate the guy. I just don't think he is any good. Seem fair?

What game were you watching? Check the drive chart halfway down the page...

http://www.pro-football-reference.com/bo...130jax.htm

First half - 190 yards in 6 drives

Second half - 65 yards in 6 drives (including vs. a loose defense in junk time)

Offense really started to click in the 2nd quarter and it all went poof with LJ out.
By the way, I read today's presser notes but haven't seen a timetable on Luke's return. Has anyone seen a timetable? I'd be pretty surprised if he's back this week based on what the injury looked like.

Good luck vs Wake and Vernon, Mr. Young!

that post has definitely reached the statute of limitations. Sept 3? come on bro

Yes he was playing pretty good until his injury. If I'm not mistaken the four sacks came after his injury. Our quality of depth will improve but until then, injuried will play a major factor...

NH3...

If he truly feels like he can play next week then it must not be too bad. We'll see
