First, all this left tackle right tackle contract talk is nonesense. U better make sure you have one before you worry about how to pay two.

The only savong grace is that at the time monroe wasnt playing well but if joeckel gets caved in the way he did last night were going to have to find someone else.

If Monroe leaves via free agency how many do you have?

Definitely preseason but if anyone has a reason to take it seriously, it's LJ.  As several have mentioned he's not the worst to have ever played his position but he needs to be better.  He has Boselli's essential athleticism, but he needs Tony's mentality as well.
He hasn't been great, but if he is as bad as everyone here is saying, you would think that at least one of you could name a replacement that would be an upgrade. Remember, he is terrible, so it shouldn't be hard to do.

I'll be waiting for the name of that  upgrade. It's easy to upgrade an absolutely terrible player.

Just let me know.

The Joke makes Khalif Barnes look like an all pro.

He's not terrible and we could do worse but was hoping that he'd be a great tackle.  He still has time but doesn't look like he'll get there.  Right now, I'm even wondering if Pasztor would be an upgrade (albeit a minor one).

No, he's not that bad.
A 300 pound sack of potatoes can't be all that expensive..
Cam Bradfield played LT as good as Luke Joeckel 2 years ago.

Pancakes!
DO NOT blame me for any sort of jinx...

But we all must sleep at night with the understanding that the way Luke got blown up and put on his rear last night so close to BB5's knees means there can come a time where this somewhat serviceable, yet somewhat mentally weak LT, is going to get our potentially great QB placed on IR.

PFF has Joeckel at -3.5 for the game, giving up 3 QB hits and 2 QB hurries.

Yet some people like to say he's doing just fine
The Joke is too top heavy.

I see him as a RT or a LG. I say move Linder to LT

Brandon Linder is an elite guard. Why the hell would you move him?
Quote:Did he play last night?  I did not hear his name once.

No.  Ezekiel (Ziggy) Ansah  was out with an ankle injury he suffered in the previous pre-season game against the Redskins.    Ansah played at a high level in that game and against the Jets in the pre-season opener.
Quote:After re-watching the game, I don't think that Joeckel is "bad", but he certainly is not a "stud" in the game.  He did get beat on a couple of plays, but show me one left tackle in the league that never gets beat.

My take is in the 1st QTR when the Jaguars built a 14-0 lead,  Luke Joeckel played well.

It looked like in the 2nd QTR that Joeckel suffered an injury but he continued on playing.   Soon after,   DE Phillip Hunt got the best of him,  especially on two plays.   One was an outside rush in which it looked like Joeckel held him but it wasn't called.    Then,  on a bull rush.    Hunt went from a Street FA signed in the winter to someone who has a very realistic chance of making the team.    If Larry Webster is kept over Hunt,   it will because of potential,  not production/ play.   Hunt was in the rotation throughout the first half.   Webster didn't see the field on Defense until the 2nd half.

Just as a point of reference in terms of trying to evaluate Joeckel's play,   Hunt and Darryl Tapp are different from the other Lions DEs in that they don't have the height and large wingspin.    Hunt is build more along the lines of Dwight Freeney.   Hunt got great leverage on that bullrush.   Joeckel seemed to play better against Devin Taylor,  who has great height and wingspan.

Could Webster get cut?
