I was thinking the same thing earlier when I ran out to do errands.  Nasty day.  All year I can’t wait for it to cool off, then I remember summer and try to limit my complaints about the cold weather. I’ve found there is very few weather conditions around here that make me say “ahh, this is nice!”

I love these type of days with a fiery passion. More please!
In my area of NC we had one of the wettest years on record in 2020. 2021 is giving it a run for its money. Six out of seven days a week we have overcast skies and showers or rain. I told my husband it feels like the PNW.

On top of that it's been on average 20-30 degrees colder than last January so it's been less than ideal. I'm good with cold temperatures but add the rain and it gets miserable pretty quickly and nothing gets done outside. My house needs a good power wash to get the green off from all the rain but the one sunny and non-rainy day a week is too cold to bother with it.
Sitting on the lanai, listening to the rain, enjoying a beer and keeping an eye through the door on this stupid Salma Hayek/Owen Wilson movie my wife somehow continues to watch. Dumb movie.  But Salma at 54 yo..  smoking hot.  Not so much in this movie.  But after looking up her age she apparently likes to upload bikini shots.  And I apparently liked looking at them. She may be 54...but her body sure as heck isn’t anywhere close to that.  Long story short, nice evening.  I hope my wife doesn’t ask me later tonight why I want to “Sell my kayak!!!”

I stopped at my local Daily’s this evening. I grab what I went in for and check out. The guy behind me tells the cashier he wants 2 bags of firewood that they have out front. I walk out, his kid loaded 2 bags that I saw. I get in my truck and dad walks out grabbing 2 bags. The kid yells at dad “hey, dad I already got 2!” He pretends to not hear. The kid repeats it and the dad set one bag back. Seriously!? 5.99? You save that [BLEEP] for Home Depot when you load “x” amount of whatever on your flatbed cart in a “unique” and irregular fashion and let the 17 yo cashier miscount, or code your 3/4 birch plywood as 1/4 OSB. (Man, the more I think about it they give me a lot of free stuff!)

I should have tackled his [BLEEP] and made a citizen’s arrest! 5.99. Smh. That is surely felon status right? Right?!? Ugh, I just don’t get it.

But what's most appalling is the example he set for his kid.
Well, this will be the longest and coldest cold spell in the DFW area in 40ish years.  It's not supposed to be above freezing until next Wednesday.  High on Monday and Tuesday will be low 20s.  Expecting a low of 6 overnight on Sunday into Monday.

Welcome to Texas.  Yippee.

Agreed.  I was thinking that as well.   Not that it makes it better, but I hope he at least lied to his kid and said he changed his mind and got 3 at the register.

People actually pay for firewood?  I can't burn trees fast enough on my property.

Yep, in the “city” we do.  I’ve paid over 400 this “winter”.  Not from the gas stations but from bigger...idk, firewood sellers??  Yes, I’m literally lighting my money on fire.  I’m ok with that.  I’m enjoying the fire, company and food I’ve cooked off it.  One day, hopefully sooner than later, I can join you in getting my own off my own property.  It’s in the works.  Until then...

Dude, I saw footage of the crazy number of car accidents from yesterday. That was unreal. Hopefully you and yours have managed to stay off the roads and out of danger.

So sad to hear five people died in the multi-car pileup on I-35. Ice on the roads is no joke but in highways it can be deadly for sure.

Up to 6 fatalities now.  That was only 5 miles from the house.  Although, I'm working at home and rarely have a need to travel the interstates anyway.  I actually hadn't heard about it until well after it happened because I'm listening to music while I'm working.
Where is Rollerjag? I feel like he hasn't been around for awhile.

He hasn’t been on the site in three months. I hope he’s okay!
