(04-21-2021, 08:11 PM)Jags Wrote: [ -> ]I tend to agree.  I appreciate the understanding. I know I’m not the only one either.  I know their are many even in offices pulling 12-14+ hour days as well.  I’ll take the physical stress over mental any day of the week. So I can’t complain there.   2020 and 2021 are love/hate years depending on how’s its affected you.  I honestly can’t complain.  My biggest complaint is this was the year I was going to finally stand back/ let go and manage it.  It’s been a few years overdue.  I’m just pissed all the stars are aligned except no one wants to work.  And I have a guy or two wanting his “promotion” to crew leader and it’s well deserved.  I’d like to fulfill that for all of us and can’t.

Well, I have a cousin I could send your way, but he's a lazy good for nothing that voted for.. well.. you know the rest..

Never seen a pair of work boots and I wouldn't do that to ya..

Haha, no worries, I appreciate the thought.  Funny story though (or not)

I can’t tell you how many guys I’ve had to not even show up on their first day.  If I schedule a guy to come in, we literally have a timer going and leave the premises in order to not waste time waiting on a “no call,no show” on their first day.

That being said, I had a “competitor or colleague” however you want to claim it, stop us on our route.  He’s an “old timer”. In his 50’s and runs solo.  I thought after 15 years I’ve seen it all.  He’s trying to give me an invite to a FB group for local LCO’s that help each other out.  The professional courtesy and comradery(sp) in our field is outstanding.  I’m eyeing his set up and find many things that would help us out.  He’s got a frigging winch mounted on his ZTR to pull himself out in those times the lake monster tries to get you.  Man, I thought buying a “come-a-long” was the ticket.  I bow to his experience, knowledge and willingness to go solo.

I say all that to get to this:  help is so hard to come by and we’ve all had our horror stories.  This guy takes the cake iMO. After telling me about the no shows first day, he tells me about his worst. He had a guy that used to work with his wife in the office setting and wanted a job.  He also lived in his neighborhood.  She vouches for him. He seems like a decent hard working guy.  He asks to barrow 300.00.  He talks it over with the wife and they agreed to go ahead and spot him.  This tool bag takes the 300, rents a car, drives down south for a job interview.  Never saw him again.  Now that is super screwing him over.  Help sucks.   I hate the process.  Always have, always will.  No shortage of losers out there.  Our field draws them out.  I just shake it off.  It’s almost humorous if it weren’t so sad.
SpaceX - Launches

SpaceX is launching four astronauts to the ISS tomorrow morning at 5:49. If you're awake (and in the local area) look south southwest. Launches in dark sky conditions are neato.
The SpaceX launch was spectacular. Even the first stage returning to land was easily observable.

Holy cow that was incredible.
There are 64 different species of plants in my back yard, not counting weeds. I can name every one of them.

Did a little mechanics work today..... Put a rear end in a recliner.......... lol
I'm afraid to know what that means. Lol
That’s when you’re sitting down and reclined back against the headboard, or even an actual recliner and your partner is in your lap facing away (also reclined  back) during the anal sexes. It’s an intermediate position, moderate difficulty.  Probably was taught in your sex Ed class in high school.
Been outfitting the trailer to help streamline our mowing. We had a few ideas I disagree with. Figured we’d try it and see what happens. One of the good ideas sparked an idea myself. I mounted a 1”PVC pipe front and center on our open trailer. Painted it black and put a bolt about 2/3’s of the way up. Now Old Glory can be our extra men! I’m curious to see how often I’ll have to replace her. But that sounds like a “materials and supplies” write off!

There is not an appropriate emoji for my response to this. Lol.

Haha, that’s what I’m here for.
I’m going to give some of our young bucks some advice. As I do so, I’d appreciate the older folks joining in so I can learn a few things. A little backstory... I looked at a storage unit to clean up my garage. The height wasn’t right with our new 4 cycle racks. It would have taken a lot out of my garage. I guess I’ll look at bigger “industrial” shops/buildings. In the mean time I want another shed to clean out my garage from the rest of the stuff. Mainly generators, all my woodworking tools (table saw/router table, mIter saw and all the other fun stuff). Sounds like I need a man cave. A 12x16 should do. Do I market this to my wife as a man cave? Hell no! I ask my daughter is she wanted a she she’d (wife gives this kid all she wants, at times). I explain what a she shed is. Daughter is a “go”, right on!! Wait a minute, why not make this a joint building?!?! How about a “We” shed??? Boom! Worked like a charm. I’m going to price sheds and get plans. Probably going to build one myself. Run electricity to it, put in a window unit and and a mini fridge. Yeah! I’ll chalk that up to a win. Man cave here I come!!!

Try Handi House on Philips Highway near Sunbeam...assuming they are still there.  We got a monster for what I thought was a reasonable price.  Don't ask me the exact price.

I’ve actually looked into that.  They have a location in St A if I’m not mistaken.  If it’s easier and cost effective, I’ll go that route.  Part of me wants to build it myself.  Sure, I’ll hire an electrician to provide power, but essentially, I’d be building a small house by hand (I plan to insulate it).  That appeals to me.  Still in research and development stage.  And as I posted that; I’m now thinking 16x16.  Which is the max size I can do in the area I’m wanting to put it.   Tbh, I’m not sure if I’m looking to clean out my garage or have an escape from this hectic lifestyle.

I practically rebuilt the entire house in Fruit Cove.  We bought it as a foreclosure.  I was in no mood to build a shed.  After a couple of years of remodeling, I was about remodeled out.

I can certainly understand that.  You’ve put a ton of work into it and seem to have also gotten a few war wounds in the process.  I don’t blame you.  As a younger “buck” and hearing the stories of building homes from my FIL and other relatives as well as my house is “set”, I feel up to the challenge to building it and learning a thing or two.  After all, I don’t actually have to live in it.  But I’ve heard many good things about Handi.  If the price is right... that could be the way I go.  I’ll have to price it out if I build vs them or another company doing it and weigh the pros and cons.  I definitely appreciate the advice.

How much room are you going to have in there once you move all that stuff in?
