A: Keep the tip.

My apologies in advance; I grew up in era of tasteless jokes. Don't kill the messenger!

hehe.  Love a good tasteless joke.

Q. Why doesn't China have a baseball team?
A. Because they eat all the bats.
Man, DFW is a busy freakin’ airport. I much prefer JIA.

DFW does a pretty good job of handling the masses. They have some decent eateries there, as well.

I’ve flown in and out of a lot of airports. JIA is nice. It’s clean and the amount of amenities for such a small airport is impressive.

Too many people.  JIA is a nice size.  Theses mega-airports are too much.

The Kansas City airport is terrible. It was built in the early 70s and the design is not accepting, at all, of modern-day security measures. I understand they are currently building a new one.
Charlotte has a nice USO center but the airport layout is a little haphazard.
Many people don't agree with me, but I think Atlanta is great. You can get anywhere in that airport within 15 minutes and the choice of eateries is unparalleled from anywhere I've ever been.

Madrid's airport is HUGE. The terminal signage is little lacking as well.

Agree on Atlanta, unless it's under construction. If so, a total nightmare.
I haven't been to KC SINCE the 70's, so it was prob state of the art then.
I've connected more thru Charlotte than any other airport, and have had some horrible experiences there. Mostly about changed gates and having to run full gallop down the never ending Terminal E trying to get to the gate of a connecting flight in 10 min or less. I'm not a fan of the layout there either.
I forgot to put Phoenix on my likes list. Really pretty distant view of the mountains and city from there.

Probably wont experience Madrid in my lifetime cause the next trips to Europe will start by flying in to Paris, Zurich and Prague. After that, it'll be all cars and trains.

When I was consulting and doing a lot of travel, Northwest was still in business.  I had some of my worst travel experiences ever flying through Detroit which was one of the main Northwest hubs.

I’ll tell you what I was impressed by…and it is very JIA sized…is Dallas Love.  They’ve done a lot of remodeling in there and it is a Southwest hub.  It’s nice when I do travel, as far as convenience, because I have two hubs within 35 minutes. It allows me to price shop.  As a matter of fact, I came up to PA on American this weekend and coming back in three weeks (for my wife’s reunion) on Southwest.

Not familiar with Dallas Love, but I have connected at DFW a good bit, and I agree with you on the crowded part, it can get pretty hectic, especially at the food areas during a rush. Haven't been to all the terminals there, but the ones I've been to seem to have too few places to eat and shop, which causes a lot of overcrowding and tension trying to grab a bite between flights. Trains and escalators are pretty efficient, but the place is huge.
Last word on airports: if you ever go to the LA area and want a unique landing experience, choose John Wayne Airport in Costa Mesa. Because of its size (small) and the Santa Ana winds (strong), the approach from 1000 ft to the ground is abrupt. Almost like dive bombing. I looked out the window and we were in a very steep dive, to the point that I thought we were crashing until the pilot quickly pulled out of the dive and we landed 20 seconds later. Personally, I'll never book thru there again, but it was quite an experience.

If you ever want a wild ride, fly into Tegucigalpa, Honduras. I’ve experienced that a couple of times. On takeoff, the pilot stands on the brakes and pushes the throttle forward until max thrust, then releases like a catapult shot.

Wow! Looked like a low sharp turn at about 150ft and then landing on a very short runway. Amazing. Loved the comments on that video.

The last time I flew out of there the pilots were a father and son. Pretty cool.
Artemis 1 scheduled to launch today for the moon. It will be the most powerful rocket ever launched since Apollo’s Saturn V 50 years ago. The launch time of 8:33 is already predicted to be pushed back to a later time because of issues.

Launch scrubbed until at least September 2nd.

Yeah, IIRC in the before times I did a layover in KC. You could basically deplane, walk out a door across from the gate, and be in the loading zone to enjoy a quick smoke. and then walk right back in and chill at your gate. I'm sure TSA has done some attempt to curtail that level of fluid ingress, but it'd be tough to pull off without locking a whole buncha doors.

(and yeah, the landing was definitely one where we all needed a smoke afterward, wind shear and turbulence gave them pilots fits on the way down. I kinda wonder if we were riding one set of wheels down the tarmac for a while....)

Only thing I remember of Madrid was getting off the plane and being welcomed by security brandishing assault rifles. I didn't sleep a wink on the flight, and was pretty well on autopilot until we entered our hotel room.
