Evidently yellowjackets live underground. I had no clue. We show up to a job site today and hear a humming sound we've never heard before. We get closer to the area we're working in and see a whole bunch of them buzzing around and going into the ground. We texted the homeowner and told him he needed to have a professional come out to get rid of them. Not pissing off those critters!

Learned that when I started cleaning out the overgrowth in the front yard, I would see them congregating around the rail posts, and eventually after spraying the tar outta the ground found a few nests buried.

Thank goodness my yard is densely wooded and I don't use a mower. A friend did that, rode over a nest and had a slightly angry swarm to deal with.

This, I'm sad to say, is the reality of today's world.......
