What a [BLEEP] shocker.

Exactly. It's not like he had a ton of talent to throw to at the WR while at Clemson either, but they had a little more speed at the position than he has to throw to now. Our receivers are constantly covered like blankets and Bevell has such a conservative game plan that he's not allowing Trevor to take any chances. Of course he's gonna look like a rookie at this point. I tried to warn people that he probably wasn't gonna look like Justin Herbert in his rookie season. The overwhelming majority of rookie QB's struggle early on, Herbert was the extreme exception to the rule. Let's surround Lawrence with some talent before we make any judgements.

Outside of the Lions (who have no receivers), no one has a worse playmaking group than the Jags.

Agreed.
I would however trade all our position players for Swift and Hockenson then rebuild our receiver group from scratch lol

No no NYC. The armchair scouts have spoken. His badness is bad and it was clearly evident in college and now it’s all his fault.

Dude... I agree but also everyone that wanted to tank for Trevor and called him a once in a generational QB said he alone would fix so much.
If we just replaced Minshew with Trevor we'd have more wins.
I'm not one to dig up old threads really mostly cuz I'm lazy but I know I was one of the few that cautioned against that sort of thinking. I don't think there is that sort of thing firstly and secondly this roster was not good and one player can not fix that level of suck.
So come draft time maybe everyone should temper their expectations for all these young players they are always enamored with. They are kids joining men and 90% of them aren't ready yet. No matter what they did in college.
And stop all the tank for talks... Winning is always better and good QBs on good rosters are better than great QBs on bad rosters.
By the end I didn't believe Minshew was the answer either but obviously it wasn't all his fault.
Although I will say I believe Urban and Baalke managed to make the 1-15 team roster worse with their choices of who to cut, trade, and sign in FA

This is the key point.
Put aside who anointed who; I can only speak for myself. I believed that this franchise was in desperate need of a franchise QB and player to be the face, to help regain some national respect. And while I wasn’t for purposeful tanking, I wasn’t gonna argue with the results. This was it. The franchise finally had a true chance to do it right, and finally had a number one overall pick for the first time ever and a player who was worthy of said pick (imagine if we had a pick in a year that the QB crop was weak).
But while I didn’t think we would instantly be a playoff team, urbans tinkering with this roster has made us far less competitive and wounded TL at the knees. I expected some growing pains for Trevor. It’s 50/50 if a number one pick is going to come in and instantly reinvigorate a team to playoff status, and those odds are dependent on the roster built around him.
Urban and Baalke, if you believe he is more then just a figurehead, failed. Miserably. And it has the potential to do more damage to this franchise then Mularkey and Bradley, Gene Smith and the GM troika of the 2000s combined. Because it may very well ruin the best shot this franchise has at gaining recognition and fielding a consistently competitive team with TL under center. And just thinking about that really crushes my fandom soul.
Trevor with last year's team and coaching is probably a middle ranked QB in the NFL right now. Who would've thought on the day they fired Doug Marrone that we would actually look back at him as an improvement over what we were going to have this season?

Which is why, usually, I'm on the non pitchfork side. Careful for what you wish for because it's possible to get worse.
But I was against Urban from the go so I'm fully on the fire him now. Don't think we could do worse than Urban, Bevell, and Baalke.

Maybe. Trevor is still making some rookie mistakes, early on holding the ball too long tossing INTs. Now it seems he is inaccurate while under pressure. Not all on him (WRs and ol share blame) but I dunno how much better last year's team is with him. 3 total wins? Defense was not very good last year either. But perhaps the games would have at least been more enjoyable to watch.

Yes, he's a rookie and making those kinds of errors, but this year the situation just seems more hopeless than last year's did. I think we have some improvements on defense this season for sure, but those are offset by how much worse the offense appears. At least Marrone and Gruden knew how to use the running game effectively, that would be a better situation for the rookie QB than where he is right now and probably make the games more enjoyable for us.

Is anyone surprised by this? What could Cullen possibly know about those guys that Baalke and Meyer wouldn't? He's just an assistant to the godhead anyway, no reason to listen to him.
Dang Dilla sure knows how to make it feel worse.
Come on he is a rookie give him a break!

No freaking way. The only decent receiver we had was DJ Chark and he's not a #1. We still had nobody at tight end. Trevor would of looked just the same or worse.

Yes freaking way, Gruden is a proven play caller and Marrone an average coach. Those two facts would have contributed to better game plans with a much more effective running game which would leave Trevor looking much better than the abused puppy we have right now.
Mentally it must be quite hard on TL as well
You lose games consecutively and start to blame yourself for the losses
I hope he is getting support and urban gets the flick soon enough

If we had last year's front office, head coach, offensive staff, and special teams staff, we would be sitting at 5 wins right now. Plus our draft would have gone much better.
Here is my biggest fear with this regime and the franchise black eye. Who is coming here as a free agent? Can we even hope that anyone will resign that has even a drop of talent? We are going to be ACL reclaim project team because I just don't see people wanting to be involved with Urbz.
