Trevor IS NOT a generational talent but these coaches are some of the worst ever. These guys would make any rookie (Manning, Brady, Burrow etc) look like a bust.
I do think he’s generational but he’s being ruined by the worst organization in football.

Other than that, I agree with you.

Bench him.  Put CJ so the offense can start to run normally before the end of the year.  Send TL back to school so he's got a shot at next year.

What a terrible take.

What’s the point of putting CJ in? The offense to run normally? You really think it’ll be better with CJ? Trevor had ZERO TIME to throw today. I hope he does whatever it takes to learn the throws he can and can’t get away with (like Manning) and then jumps in year 2 with a new staff.

Playing CJ is just stupid right now. Kinda like when they keep starting Wingard instead of Cisco or Taylor instead of Little.

You mean, playing the better player? At this stage we'd have to consider what is most damaging to Lawrence between playing him or sitting him.

At this stage, CJ isn’t better than Lawrence and what’s most damaging is benching Lawrence as if he’s the main reason for the offensive problems. He’s not.
My god we have one of the most dumbest fan bases. Start CJ? Egads

People are desperate for some sort of change, any change, in the hopes it will improve this team's prospects. I get it.

Yeah, I agree.  We have a generational quarterback, but we have a generationally bad offense surrounding him.

No, moron, playing CJ is the smart move.  CJ can play a pro set.  TL cannot.  CJ can read a defense.  TL cannot.  CJ can progress reads.  TL cannot.

The offense is farked and the QB is the critical element of a well-functioning unit.  TL cannot play this squad like it is a pro squad.  He needs to learn and he hasn't improved since the start of the year.  In fact he's worse.   TL is leading one of the worst offensive units to ever play in the pro leagues.  The QB is not a passenger.  He is the lynchpin.  Get a QB that can play pro ball calling the shots so the rest of the offense doesn't turn to custard.

Bench him.  Get him a new QB coach that can develop him.  Let the offense play proper pro ball in anticipation of next year.
At this point, I think you could do either. you could bench Lawrence to keep any more bad coaching from sticking to him. I'm not sure he's really learning much at the moment being put in no-win situations every week. And you would be preserving him from serious injury for this year. However, if the backup happens to win a couple of games with this squad, then we worsen our 2022 draft status, and you really aren't following what was designated the 'blueprint' for the future of this franchise any longer.

If we lose to the Texans in the same fashion that we lost to the Titans today, then I think you sit Lawrence for the reasons stated above. We are so bad in every respect that we may lose out regardless of who is the QB.

All this presumes we will be cleaning house at the GM and coaching levels in 2022, except for Cullen. If that doesnt happen, then it doesnt matter who plays at QB, the mediocrity will continue.

The great offense with 8 yards rushing to try and get any pressure off him.

If this game wasn't an epitome of the team's futility under Meyer, I don't know what is.

Negative. Khan hired the wrong coach and general manager for the job. Both of them had a history of negative press and turmoil where they were previously employed and a lot of it got swept under the rug because of wins and circumstances.

You could put Wilson, Lance, Fields and Jones in Jacksonville and it will still be the same narrative here. Sorry, just facts. Lawrence has the unfortunate task of being the face of a franchise that has been horrendous all but twice in the last 21 years.

Even when they had those 2 years of success they managed to implode due to poor ownership decisions. Anyone comparing Jones to Lawrence is also futile and lacking in education as well.

Belichick has the best defense in football which is something he historically puts together very well on the grand majority of the teams he's ever coached and dropped an NFL record setting $140M in free agency to bury the fact Brady literally walked away from a roster devoid of talent.

...but can our OC gameplan a pro set any better?Just because the snap is exchanged 5 yards closer to the LOS doesn't predict any more success.

TL is running the plays that are called; of this I'm certain because otherwise Urbz would be publicly lambasting him like he's done with everyone else.

We have poor coaching and poor talent all over the field. The run game appears to either be designed to get a yard and run 30 seconds off the clock, or any significant gain ends up offset by a boneheaded penalty. CJ would be subject to the exact same futility, and if the line is as bad as it's shown in prior games, him being closer to the LOS will only allow the rush to get home sooner.

Right right.

Like when Viska and Treadwell ran into each other, CJ would have read that play perfectly.

Or like when Trevor hit Viska in the hands and he drops it which leads to an interception. CJ would have ran up and handed it to him.

Or when big plays actually do happen, CJ would tell the Oline not to hold because the big play is coming.

Oh and CJ also would have done a better job of making sure the Oline actually opened up holes instead of getting pushed back.

You're so wanting to be right about Trevor being bad that you're not being objective. I'm one of the first to call players bad but putting the offensive struggles on Trevor is absurd. He hasn't been good but come on now.
I had to stop watching at halftime to go to a family Christmas party, but up to that point Trevor was playing his best game since the Cincy game.

Still don't understand why people can't seem to grasp this concept. Meyer is also clearly not taking advantage of his position on the football team.

Boselli said this morning that Meyer has final say on personnel. That's including over Baalke. If he's upset with a player. He has power to change that.

If he's upset with the gameplans on offense with Bevell? He has power to change that. He's done none of that though.

I don't see how they can go another year with him after how embarrasing this year has been since before the preseason started.

How are you going to fix this? Nobody will want to come here now. No decent players. No decent coaching candidates. It's in a mire of dysfunction. It's toxic.

Again, looking back at the Bengals, Falcons and Dolphins games. That was your identity on offense. At least it had a level and degree of consistency that should have been the focal point with Lawrence's skillset coming out of Clemson to establish a foundation.

Get him comfortable. That should have been objective number one back in April. What are we going to do to make his life easier and comfortable earlier on offense to create a foundation?

They didn't do that. They keep going back and forth with schemes while not developing any consistency and chemistry with this kid and the other 10 starters and rotational players.

Just completely inexcusable. Commit to an identity. Establish that identity. Do it consistently for a month or two. Then wrinkle in some more nuanced concepts, PRO level concepts to get him over any mental plateaus or progression roadblocks.

Obviously Meyer and Trevor both should be blamed.

What ever happend to QBs that could evaulate players around them? I haven't seen Trevor do that yet...., I've seen pretty inconsistent and accurate balls down the field, or late throws that had no chance yesterday....

Urban is the big elephant in the room but Trevor is the second. I think everybody excepted him to have a down year but no one was expecting him to look this bad, and you should be concerned no matter who the supporting cast is...

You [BLEEP] and fell back in it. He hasn't been perfect. He's certainly had his fair share of blame.

However, this is precisely what happens when you hire an egomaniac with no NFL experience to headcoach a franchise that's been in a cycle of [BLEEP] shows over the last 20 years.

Really, really epic level [BLEEP] show cycle wise since Khan bought the team these past 10 years.

Lawrence has [BLEEP] all around him to "evaluate". The coaching staff is consistently gameplanning anything and everything away from what made Lawrence successful at Clemson.

They don't run it. They can't catch it. They can't protect him. This staff doesn't have a decent play system installed because they're not on the same page.

Urban is here to collect a check. Bevell is who he is. Cullen is decent. You can't tell me he hasn't flashed some abilities when they actually called [BLEEP] that worked for him.

Again. Bengals, Dolphins and Falcons game. That was the forumla to start with. They scrap it every week and it comes back maybe three weeks later.

You're just a contrarian. LOL.

Yep. It’s almost as if they are game planning to purposefully sabotage Trevor; which, I might be on to something. Trevor did talk with urban about having Robinson in the game more.

So maybe six carries only (!) was Urban and bevell being petty and punishing Trevor for daring to ask for help.

You [YouMadThough] ask where is the QB who elevates those around him. He. Is. A. Rookie. 95 percent of rookies, even those who went on to have legendary careers don’t “elevate” those around them their first year. Go look at first year records for HoF or recent very good QBs. Manning, Aikman, Montana, bradshaw, Kelly, Young, Fouts, Brees, Allen, Burrow, and more, they all posted .500 or below their rookie years. For every Wilson and Mahomes, there’s a dozen who didn’t walk into a stacked team and had a bad first year. And even Mahomes has looked mortal when, surprise! Earlier in the year. Teams have game planned his weapons away and the defense played horrific. His obituaries were being written. But look at his staff. They adjusted. They circled the wagons. This staff has done none of that and has been petty by purposefully taking weapons away from Trevor then lying to shift blame. Not only is this team not stacked, urban and co. had a ungodly amount of cap space and picks to improve the roster and somehow made it worse. That’s impossible for ANY rookie to overcome.

Mac Jones, who everyone here slobbers over, isn’t “elevating” his team. He’s not throwing for 5000 yards and 40 touchdowns. For gods sake he just won a game where he threw twice! What’s happening is he has a staff that is building around him and scheming his strengths to give him that time to develop (or eventually sink; I’m not completely sold on him; eventually teams will counter and try to amplify his weaknesses).

Many of the “fans” (not caldrac) here are being “contrary” and refuse to see the big picture. You build straw men to knock down, saying that we think Trevor is great, when in fact we’re not making judgement calls, but advocating to give the kid some god dang help because it’s impossible to evaluate him given he has to try and overcome massive hurdles, and has to do this while learning in the pros and taking his rookie lumps. You literally get gleeful when he doesn’t succeed. Get the heck out of here and don’t let the door hit you on the way out
