A lot of it comes down to why you are a fan of the Jacksonville Jaguars.

For the citizens of Duval county and North Florida, the Jaguars represent  us nationally.

. I don't like our city being forgotten on sports center, and the town laughed at as the worst football team in the league, with fake reporting on our

attendance, and snide comments when we are mentioned.

True fans, love this city,and  love our team. Maybe outsiders are a fan of the Jags on a whim, so they tend

to have this long term goal of Championships. They bet on a long shot and hope it pays off big time.

Anything else, and it's a "meaningless win", because they consider an 8 win season nothing to hang their hat on,

nothing to brag to their neighbors that they, and only they, picked some funky southern small population team to root for.

i doubt making the playoffs would be enough, still their ego would demand more..

 

  I want the team that represents my city to be respectable, so its not all or nothing for me. Nor should it be all or nothing for other fan residents of Duval. It brings business here, it is helps our economy with the team being here, and winning helps them stay here.

 

If we have the right organization in place, the winning will follow no matter where we draft.

 I live here, I pay for tickets to follow a team that represents my city. This is reality, not fantasy football for citizens of Duval.

I want the best representation possible, everyday, every game, every year. Hopefully Championships will come.

That means there are no meaningless wins for the Jacksonville Jaguars.

You'd find yourself in a position where you are rooting against the Jags, and for the tacks, clots and tinhorns. Doesn't sound like much of a Jag fan to me.


Bottom line... Worry about the draft after the season. Allow the coaching staff and front office to do their jobs, hopefully we've got the right people in place. And for goodness sake allow yourself to enjoy the Jaguars' win today, they've been few and far between the last few years.


I really like that this team isn't giving up with the start to the season that we had. That is a direct reflection on Gus and a very good thing to see.

so finishing 4-12 makes you feel more proud than finishing 2-14?.... :blink: They are similar to me.  ....and reprocussions of missing out on the top players in the draft that could actually make a significant difference in future records, be darned?....

In todays NFL, the QB position is the most important position of the 53 by far, and more important than ever before. You know this. Having a potential great one is a major part of the formula for winning in todays NFL.

I fail to see why any of the above would not have been equally true had the Texans scored on that last drive.


We beat a 2 win team starting an undrafted QB, and they still were within range to win that game in the final minute. This is not some great achievement.

We can still make the playoffs. Me and my friend did the espn playoff predictor and the jags can still make the playoffs.

We're not going to be outside the top 5, so I wouldn't worry about that.  

Marco Coleman, ex-player, even said on the post game broadcast that it's way more important for a team to learn how to win, learn what it takes to win, learn how to pull out wins than it is to move up to get a player who may not produce anyway. He speaks from experience.

After approximately 4 straight losses this board was filled with posts from people back then saying "I just want to see improvement from the team moving forward." Now that we see improvement the LOSERS don't want to see improvement they want losses.

Losing is for losers. Period. Tom Coughlin told me once that losing is contagious.

We're not a great team.   I never said winning meant we are a great team.   I said it means we are better than we thought we were.   That is a good thing.

You'd better run that math again. Starting in 2000 to now, how many QBs have been selected in the 3rd round or later? How many have been potentially a top 5 player? If it's 1 in 16 (at least according to you) then you're telling me that only 32 QBs have been drafted in the third round or later since 2000?

C'mon MJ.....it's improvement. Any true fan wants to see improvement. They want to see that the coaches can coach and the players can play. It's not about wins and losses, but if a win is an unwanted symptom of the team getting better, I'm not gonna complain about it.


This same team doesn't win this game week three of the season. Coaches are coaching. Coordinators are coordinating. Things are gelling.


These are not bad things.
