Why even root for this team if all you ever are going to do is complain about the team?

Yes, winning is always what's best for your team. Absolutely. And teams with their playoff seeding locked up rest their starters because they're trying their best to win. And teams out of contention really throw in guys who were considered worse than the guys already on the field for a "spark". Spot on.

He was prolly a fan of every other team too at one point.. They all just disowned him one by one and this was his final shot at fandom..

I have and you must have comprehension issues. I already said players don't/ won't "lie down/ intentionally lose". Thats not how you tank.

Thats what 14+ seasons of generally bad football will do to you.... (bar the anomaly 2005 & 2007 speedbumps)

 

 

WHen the Jags give me a reason to be positive, I'll have no issue being so.

This team has trotted out the gruesome twosome of Gabbert/Henne. 

 

They traded away Eugene Monroe (which you complained about for an entire month).

 

They are starting Austin Paztor at RT. 

 

They have Alualu starting on defense. 

 

They are playing 10 rookies on both sides of the ball. 

 

They signed Geno Hayes, Alan Ball and Will Blackmon in Free Agency.

There was a poster on this board in 2007 who threw a fit because the Jaguars rested their starters in week 17, What was that guy's name?

Funny, again the Seahawks are in the same boat riding their THIRD round qb from the same draft who despite what you may say- Looks better than the player the Colts "tanked" for.

I guess my question for "the tankers" would be, what do you want the team to do differently than they are doing now? And lose is not an answer.

I didn't want their rhythm/ momentum messed up. At the time, their offense was running on all cylinders. Their offense during that last 6 games heading into the season finale you cite was going point for point with the record setting Patriots that season....and considering that the offense never did seem to regenerate to the same level after resting the starters, seems like I was correct with that take. 

 

There are times when resting starters might be a good option in that scenario....for us in that particular instance, I think it was negative. If you recall, in the WC game vs Pitt, the offense really was rusty. The defense scored at least one TD (Mathis), and MoJo came within a yard of running a kickoff back for a TD. The Jags offense really only put together 1 or 2 longer scoring drives that game. Their total first downs that game were way down from what they were averaging as well. They clearly lost some momentum from resting their offensive starters.
