You know what grinds my gears, Barney the Purple Dinosaur

Watch him a lot, do you?
Fortunately, I don't have kids in the house anymore and I got rid of the TV

I stayed up and watched that whole, stinking, going to overtime, let's see how many bad calls and dropped interceptions one contest can have game.

And now I'm tired.

Ya know? I've found myself watching Barney a few times.. 2:30 am, spaced outta my gourd and somber from striking out at the bar..

East Coasters and your late night shenanigans.

What can I say? We like to party.

Just got done listening to the entire In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida CD, SOBER! Still a Kick [BLEEP] CD after 47 years

Vince Young likes to party.. Liberace too..

Maybe, but I never get invited to their types of parties. Mine is really just me on my couch working my way through a sixer of Yeungling.
My story of shame follows:

So I got invited to a Halloween party weekend this year and part of it included a stop at a Great Wolf Lodge. For those of you unaware, Great Wolf Lodge has an indoor waterpark so that all of these crazy Northern folk can do waterpark things while under a roof. It's like being at a pool without the bothersome sun.

Anyway, at this Great Wolf Lodge place, they have this thing called a Ropes Course that is essentially a four story superstructure that you get to climb around on. This is one of the few things located outside so I jumped on the opportunity. Now, thing about this "attraction" is that you put on a fall protection harness and lock yourself onto an overhead support system via a lanyard. You get to walk around on beams and such with no concerns of falling off because you're physically attached to the steel of this thing. And it's pretty cool! There are several neat rope bridges and things you get to walk on and even a zip line. Lots of fun.

Well, one option to get down off of this "Ropes Course" is to use what is called the Quick Drop. Basically, it's a spring loaded coil of rope that allows for freefall for the first few feet, then slows your descent. Yes, "descent". As in, you take a big ol' step off into nothing and trust to this piece of gear to not let your brains be used as paint for the sidewalk. Well, a few folks in our group go right off the edge and some little four year old punk just saunters right off without a peep.

By this time, folks are calling for me to come on down and enjoy the ride. Even the 11 year old behind me was telling me to get my hiney in gear and jump off the platform. This, along with the looks of the college aged female attendant did enough damage to my ego so that I relented to take this jump. But our story doesn't end there; I tell the attendant that I'm just not going to be able to take that step and asked if I could sit and do it. She said yes, but that she would have to shove me off so that the back of my big head doesn't smack the platform on the way down.

So there I am, sitting on this edge and I tell Miss Sophomore thrill seeker back there to shove me off. She gives me the boot to the back and down I go. I kid you not, I didn't stop shaking for a good 30 minutes after that. Even now when I think about taking that step I get all terrified. And I think back to something my Dad told me years ago "At some point, you're going to start hating Roller Coasters and be afraid of heights." Man, I hate it when he's right.

My two biggest fears are heights and lightning.

So getting struck by a bolt while skydiving probably will never come into the picture.

Lol deacon no worries you're not alone. I experience similar embaressment when we take the kids to the water parks. We took my oldest two this last summer for a birthday party, of course my fearless 8 year old wants to go on the slide that the bottom drops out and you free fall down the slide resulting in massive wegies. We got about half way up when I turned around and sent his mom up, I've reached the age my pride takes a back seat to common sense.

Skydiving I just don't get it, who jumps out of a perfectly good plane? Crazy people that's who.

Mine still nudges me along into doing things that take years off of my life.

I'm 6'5".

I feel like that's plenty high enough for me.

Well yea, you actually went up the climbing for people that have a death wish thing, and then let a college girl push you off!

My developed level of common sense would've opted for a beer and watching crazy young people risk near death jumping off perfectly good buildings with blind faith in a pulley system probably put together by another minimum wage college student.

But if that college girl was wearing climbing shorts I would have wanted to stick as close to her as well. Say what you want, but ogling through binoculars is just not the same.

I didn't want to stain her climbing shorts with my vomit and tears.

Yeah...that might be a little awkward.
