This offense had 6 points at home to the worst team in the league. That pick in the endzone, the multiple over throws and WRs that were missed when open that he didnt see is why we lost. You are one of the only ones that cant see it.
The tinhorns weren’t going to convert on 3rd and 20 so the penalty was essentially a turnover. That followed by the tinhorns driving down for the touchdown had the greatest impact on the game because of situation and time remaining.
Trevor didn’t have a good game and getting points on the drive he threw the pick in the end zone whether FG or TD could have changed things, but we were probably going to win this one in spite of his rough day had the Walker penalty and ensuing drive not happened.
This is it. Plenty of people had a hand in today's L. The interception hurt us no doubt but it was a 6-6 game and Houston were struggling to get past our 40 yard line. They were in FG range and got pushed back past the 50 on the 3rd and 20. That penalty by Walker (also a #1 pick) was costly as it put them back in FG range and allowed them to chew clock. We had plenty of missed opportunities, the 4th and 1 we couldn't get as the Oline got stuffed, the Etienne incompletion/fumble, plenty of drops on 1st and 2nd down that put us in 3rd and long and Houstons D had some nice plays.
We could have probably just got a FG 2nd half and win this 9-6 but this was a bad day all round. D played well mostly but struggled stopping the run and that was Houstons whole O but just a bad day at the office for everyone. It happens.
Texas played cover two because they didn't fear the long ball. They need to stop runs and short passes. Stack the line, let the safeties cover deep until you get burned. Didn't get burned, cover two all day. The Jags will be facing cover two from now on, until TL starts hitting deep balls and makes teams adjust.
It's a common story in the NFL. Jackpots are rare. No deep threat, no ability to read. Two seasons and then a career backup.

I wasn't counting but how many drop passes on the last two drives from Jacksonville... had to have been at least four or five.... And also out of all the things you mentioned not one of those was Trevor's fault.... The interception in the end zone was really the only thing I saw wrong today he should have ran it for the first down.... Maybe one or two overthrown deep deep passes but most of them were in the hands of the receiver and straight up dropped passes.... Going for it 4th and 1 from shotgun was a horrible play call.... I'm starting to think this whole going for it on four down while in field goal position is horrible play calling... You need to take the points unless the game is on the line... I could be wrong but I think we left at least six points on the field by going for it on fourth down..... Our team is too young to overcome bad situations when the momentum is turned and those are big momentum changers....

I think he has the ability to read, but when the pressure is on he can't handle it and shrinks to starring down his main guy. I think that's his big issue.

Bawaaaha seriously....ya because the 15 dropped passes on the last two drives....oh wait all game....ya the interception in the end zone was bad....but play calling was worse....and how about a defense that in two close games allowed the opposing team to march down the field for the game winning drive....that's right Washington and now Texans.... couldn't stop them when it really mattered...stop Washington we win....stop Texans and all we need is a FG
Yeah exactly that. The pick in the endzone was what sealed it for me. He needed a yard to move the chains and had a wide open field in front of him yet chose to throw into triple coverage. Trevor lacks situational awareness and for the third time this year has folded under pressure.

However, as NYC pointed out. Doug's unrelenting in his beliefs. He was correct again today.
However, if Lawrence scores there instead of throwing the interception? The next drive is probably opened up with run, run, pass [run again if it's 3rd and short] and thus it changes the rest of the game.
I think Pederson HAS to change his approach now. Adapt or die. Lawrence has officially killed you twice in a row with the turnovers. Time to adapt towards running it until Lawrence can mentally get out of his funk.

Their next possession after the INT started with a -2 yard run with Robinson. Not a good way to start a drive. Ended up going 53 yards on 10 plays and turned it over on downs with that shotgun run with JRob on 4th and 1. Never a fan of running the ball in shotgun in that situation. 3 carries by JRob on that drive and 1 Lawrence scramble.
Doug didn't go pass happy until the 2nd possession after the INT. It was a pretty even 30 passes vs 26 rushes split. Got the ball back with 10:20 left in the 4th, 6-6 ball game and that's when they went pass happy. Went 3 and out, 3 straight passes. Texans scored on their next possession due to the Walker penalty and they threw it 14 more straight times on the final 2 possessions to finish out the game.
They had 10 possessions total. 6 of them they ran it on 1st down. They threw it 4 times on 1st down, 3 of which were the final 3 possessions of the game. They went 3 and out on their first possession, then had 6 straight drives of 6-10 plays 50+ yards. The plan was working and Doug went away from it when he shouldn't have.

Yeah and twice this season our defense gave up game winning drives that allowed teams to take the lead with minutes left in the game.... 13 points. Walker’s penalty was atrocious but still just 13 points. Over throw after overthrow, and even taking the drops into consideration, that pick is unforgivable. Feel free to blame the defense all you want, Trevors mistakes put the games on the line.

I agree and I like the being aggressive but in division games like this where you aren't playing well and not executing well, just take the points.
The interception was a bad play all round for Lawrence as we were inside the 15, he could have got a 1st down and even if we have to settle for 3 but if a pick in a tied game on the first drive of the 3rd Q costs you a game then you wonder what the team was doing for the rest of the half.
We had some silly holding penalties on O and D that took plays back and gave them 1st downs. We struggled getting much out of first down runs and had one of the worst 3 and outs I've seen with Etienne losing about 7 yards, then a drop then a holding penalty. Like you say we aren't good enough when we are making those mistakes. We did a good job the first few weeks of playing smart, mistake free football.

I just saw a couple overthrows on some really deep balls... most of them were in the hands of the receivers which were dropped... I would say there was at least 15 drops today in the hands of the receiver... And 13 points is 13 points but when your defense fails on the last drive to give your team a chance to go down and score field goal to win the game... you give up a touchdown that's on the defense 100 percent...nothing matters prior to that It comes down to the defense giving up a touchdown to one of the worst teams in the league on the last drive.... Even if Trevor doesn't throw the interception in the end zone... Let just say he scores a touchdown... The defense still allows the Texans to score on the last drive and tie up the game.... I'm going with a tie game with 3 minutes left regardless of what happened prior regardless of the score... the defense gave up a touchdown It's just unacceptable.... It could have been a 42-42 game the defense gave up a game-winning drive with 3 minutes left in the game

I’m not telling you; the posts speak for themselves. 8 posts and only within recent times only about Trevor Lawrence, and nothing else posted regarding the jags. Zip. Nada.
It was a bad weekend for FSU and Jags fans. Having to try to understand two inexplicable throws for interceptions that cost their teams the game had to be maddening.

A glance at a box score and I’d generally agree with that sentiment, but that’s why the games are played on the field and that’s why we watch. Situations matter and plays at the end of a close game matter more than those at the beginning or middle.
There is no 100% share of blame we should be looking to levy, Trevor surely earned his share, but if we’re identifying the worst play of the day and worst sequence of events of the day that led to the loss, it was the Walker pseudo-turnover penalty and ensuing drive.
