Love to see it. They ran it right, they ran it left, they play actioned it to the right, they play actioned it to the left. This is the kind stuff they have to do help keep a defense off of Lawrence down the stretch.

It really was good to see that. What else probably goes unnoticed there is on that last play. Where he hit Ridley deep along the sideline. He also had Kirk essentially wide open there in the middle for less yardage if he absolutely had to have it.

Shows Lawrence's confidence in his own abilities and trust in Ridley there. Now, you go into this Sunday showing the exact same looks to the tinhorns but you keep that TE back for pass protection and you take a shot deep to Kirk working left to right or Zay down the middle.

Oh c'mon.  He knew the camera was rolling.  I'm half shocked he didn't wink at the camera as he said it.

On the pass to Farrell - he also had Engram open deep.
The play designs are great. Being able to call so many end results out of essentially the same 12 personnel look is nice too.
The only tell there was that he was under center on both hand offs and in the gun (pistol actually) on both PA passes.

The offense was insanely clean and efficient in that game.
I'm crossing all my fingers and toes we see that continue in Houston.
I have a bad feeling the tinhorns apply more pressure and limit some of the passing game by comparison, but that doesn't need to ruin anything if the Jags play well despite allowing a bit more pressure than the tacks could manage.

EDIT:

Was curious if we'd seen this before and took a peek back at the falcons game and found it there. They initially ran out of a 12 personnel grouping with the TE's split - then passed from that look.
Then they ran from 12 with TEs stacked YY. Didn't rewatch the second half to see if they started PA passing from there, but it's likely.

They also had a heavy package in to get a short yardage run with a spare lineman lined up as the 2nd TE. They got the first down, kept the look and PA passed from it for a good gain. LOL
I don't think they had a lot of respect for the falcons defense.
Maybe it’s collaborative. Jags need good play calling period.
I assume most people agree that we are fine with going for the touchdown right before halftime at the 1 yard line, but not a fan of getting cute and running a toss sweep sideways.

I wanted 3 points

Dumb call

Playcalling in this game in Houston has been very effective - the goal line play with one second is a tough one - but not reflective of the game as a whole

Our entire red zone approach needs an overhaul

I absolutely agree 100% here.

I just wish we could actually stop lining up in the shotgun formation when we are on the 1 yard line.
Pedersen almost lost this for us. He needs to reel in some of the unreasonable gambling on 4th down. Sometimes it's OK to take 3 points, particularly considering we are 28th in the league in red zone offense.

I’m not against the decision to take a chance in that situation but the play call was very questionable.

Same. Don't hate the decision. I hate the play call. Again. Ridley dropped a TD. Engram had a big drop. Kirk had a big drop. Near miss with Zay. Plenty of miscues today.

Thankfully they called just enough things right today to win it.

That play calling man... PHEW...  But I'm sure it's the O-Line's fault.  Oh wait, the O-Line played great today!!!

I hope to god Press Taylor gets a HC gig soon, otherwise we might be wasting several years of this SB winning window....

Only you would show up and [BLEEP] about play calling on a day when the QB goes for almost 400 yards on the road.

I think the execution was on point for the most part.  Yes, the Ridley drop was a heart breaker, same with the Engram drop when we were driving in the 1st quarter. We had a few fall starts/illegal motions in the 1st half as well... But again, overall the players on offense played well.

But man, the fact that Press hasn't figured out how to use his RB corps correctly, and the fact that he's just clearly not in tune with the flow of the game is obvious.

Going for it on the 1 at the end of the 1st half was the right call.  The play we ran?  It was straight garbage.  Lawrence already proved the QB sneak would work?  But Press dialed up such a stupid call.  You know what proves how bad that call was?  In the 3rd Quarter we ran another successfull QB sneak.  LOL.

It's just really inconsistent play calling.  I guess it's getting a bit better than what it was in September and October.  But he's still got a long ways to go to be as competent as Doug or any other top 10 OC or HC that is calling up plays and running the offense.  Press just mediocre right now, and he's holding back the offense.

I show up after football games.

I also would have had other discussions, but I was banned for over a week for no reason at all.

But yeah, [BLEEP] me for calling out the truth after finally having my ban lifted.

Edit: I look forward to you and your buddy from NYC antagonizing me for the next week to try and add an additional ban on me. It won't work this time. I've figured out how you guys bully people you don't like. I won't fall for it this time. Now, instead of attacking me. Why not discuss what I said about the game? Cuz that's what we are here to do. Stop attacking me as a poster. I'm just as much of a fan as you.

Fine with the call. We knew we were getting the ball to start the second half. Hance got manhandled. Kinda wonder if screening was a better idea, or some kind of option look. The D won that down fair and square. Taking it that deep and settling for a FG would have felt empty.

No, I was not fine with it.  I didn't hate it, but I preferred going for 3 there, getting the sure points, and going up by 2 scores.  That's the way I felt at the time, and of course, that's the way I feel now.

The play call was okay.  I just didn't like the decision to not kick the FG.

Play calling was fine for the most part. Again, not Press' fault when Ridley drops yet another dime in the endzone this year, Kirk drops another dime (albeit, the sun got in his face I guess) deep in the game and Engram tried playing hot potato earlier on a drive with a pass that could have easily led to a 1st down and potentially 7 instead of 3 there.

The ONLY gripe I have is the play call at 00:01 seconds left in the 1st half of the game from the 1 or 2 yard line. Which, that's REALLY not on Press. That was on Doug for making the decision to go for it. It was a horrendously bad call there, and, I am sorry, I know Etienne has been a good back for the most of the year, but, the way Lawrence has played since last week?

I keep that football in his hands and I am going through the air there. Especially with how good the line was holding up in pass protection Vs. run protection. They're clearly doing new things or doing things more effectively now. The screen game for example. Way better over the last two weeks than it's been all year.

The deep shots downfield? Obviously it's been more present. But, you're absolutely DEAD WRONG about Press Taylor in this one. Lawrence was three dropped passes and a REALLY BAD missed PI call that turned into an INT from arguably having his greatest career performance in a regular season game with a lot of pressure on him.

While they won the game? Some of his teammates let him down yesterday. Let's be real. We should have BEAT THE HELL out of them yesterday. Those three drops? Massive. You're probably looking at damn near 450+ yards passing, maybe even 500 yesterday and a TD that should have been added to his stat sheet. Glad we won. But, man, it's a pisser when your skill position guys literally drop the ball.
No, you take the sure points on the road. Even so, the run game is clearly not working and we need to figure it out.
