Id doesn't seem like the receivers are getting open as much as I expected they would.

It seemed like there were quite a few times whereTrevor had to pull the ball back when he was wanting to make a throw, like the guy he was wanting to go to never broke open. It gave the defense more time to get pressure on him.

In preseaon it seemed like our guy couldn't be covered. During the first two games it seems like there are many more times where no one is getting open.

I don't know if I agree with this assessment. For starters, week one and week two had two different styles of defense on display. Bradley runs a vanilla zone defense, keeps everything in front of his guys and this is a useful scheme to keep the big plays from happening.

This still didn't stop the offense from putting up 31 points and 342 yards of total offense. We ran the ball a little bit more in week one than we did in week two as well. Etienne had 18 carries with Bigsby adding another 7. Etienne having had a nice little break away for a TD late in the 4th to seal the game.

Ridley also snagged 8 out of 11 targets for 101 yards and a TD. Engram added another 5 for 49 yards along with Zay adding another 5 for 55 yards and a TD.

Yesterday's game you saw Ridley get a nice grab at one point and then he was kept in check for the rest of the game. This then led to Kirk eating up 11 receptions for well over 100 yards against a blitz happy defense that plays more man-to-man. There was numerous opportunities to score yesterday.

Zay in particular had a knee injury at one point. Came back in and Lawrence missed him twice in the endzone. There were two other near misses with Ridley in the redzone. It does, however, go back to Kansas City's philosophy of getting after the QB. Again, nothing new there. Same exact coordinator in Spags that we've seen twice before.

Just came down to executing against it and we failed. Receivers were getting open yesterday. Strange, in fact, was also wide open from what I heard on the radio at some point yesterday as well. It's just the fact that Spags is good about showing a look, and dropping his guys back, or, sending the house and getting after Lawrence.

I was surprised Lawrence didn't cost us a turnover yesterday. Just because of how bad everything was going yesterday and the fact that each unit collectively failed. The QB failed at some point, the receivers failed at some point, the offensive line routinely failed in all four quarters with the exception of Little. Can't really beat up the RB group here and the TE group outside of a few whiffed blocks.

Just missed a long TD by an unabated ETN here - Orlovsky breaks it down

Yeah. Fred Taylor talked about this on the show yesterday or earlier today. If Harrison makes that backside block on Jones it's a TD like Dan is saying in the video.

Again, we can gripe about the play calling and argue who is actually calling the plays. However, it still goes back to:

Week One: 31 points scored
Yesterday: 0/4 in the redzone with pig sloppy execution between line play, QB play and receivers not using the boundaries.

The only thing I can [BLEEP] about coaching wise yesterday is the 4th and 6th attempt before halftime knowing full well that the defense had been playing valiantly against the NFL's poster boy and the fact that Cooke is one of the best punters in the game.

Don't give the best QB in the NFL a short field to work with. Just frustrating with that particular decision really. Especially when it was our offense struggling in that half and really all game.

It's hard for me outside of that decision yesterday to be upset with the schemes. The other thing I heard today on the radio, and Dempsey was adamant about having it on good authority. Remember that 1st and 1 play in the 2nd half at the goal line when Lawrence tried to take it on himself to get the ball in there on that run?

That may have been him freelancing and that was NOT the play call nor the design intent. Why he went that route is beyond me though because if he wanted to free lance his best bet was just using his frame to leap over the goal line or duck and push behind Little or somebody there.

That's the area that should look and feel more fluid I think this Sunday. I think we'll see more fluidity down there and consistency down there with more intent of either stacking one side of the field with a few fail safe options or just outright power being introduced with heavier package sets and personnel.
Press taylor can go

this man need randy moss and reggie wayne to get a decent offense going? How many first round draft picks does he have to work with at the moment alone on that field?

Really it's going back to the play caller from last year. Don't claim this is the same play caller in the 2nd half of games last year, we know Pederson is covering for Press.

Press has GOT to scheme protection for Trevor due to the trash line. And he must do something other than bubble screens for the short passing game.

If we lose to texans due to crappy play calling then sure I'll accept that taylor is bog average

But apart from that I think it's a overreaction

We are 1-1 and the game we lose WAS against last years SB Champs

Bro as I watched on TV I saw Doug talking into his headset and reading his play sheet, often, reorient 2nd half.

He was in on every play call, whether it was his voice ever time or not.

Let's relax. A bit.

If we lose to the Texans period I'm gonna have a lot to [BLEEP] about

Man, this guy's on a roll. Way to bring the quality posts to the board.
There's only 2 teams in the AFC with a better record than us...

Chill out.
Press played the number game. The numbers say beating the Chiefs twice in a single season is near impossible. He saved that win for the playoffs. You can thank him later.
These dumb conversations wouldn’t be taking place if Lawrence had thrown a couple of better passes to the back of the end zone.

Who am I kidding.  Of course they would.

Philly and Jags tied. Definitely didn't see that coming

Philly's offense looked meh in week one and when I was watching that night game they had with the Vikings, the fans were booing them at one point. They were able to make some big time plays though prior to reaching 3rd down. I think Smith went off for over 140 yards and 2 TD's.

Nobody will bat an eye at your 3rd down deficiencies if you're cracking homeruns on 1st and 2nd downs. Just the nature of statistics sometimes I guess. Ours is just amplified more and a little interesting because they scored 31 in the opener, on the road, which rarely happens for this franchise and then they stunk it up majorly at home with going 0/7 in the redzone against the defending Superbowl champions.

Praying for a bloodbath in our favor this Sunday against the tinhorns. Just give us 35+ points with the offense scoring more than our defense and I think people will calm down.

For the most part, the chiefs defense was ready for the short passing game and were eating it for lunch.

There were some good throws that were dropped that you expect guys of Ridley and Kirk's caliber to catch. There were also throws Lawrence missed in the endzone that he should have either floated closer to the back of the pylon or just put it a little bit lower and to the left or right in some cases.

I really think they had a mental lapse collectively as an offense. It's Kansas City. They had their number twice between the regular season game and play-off game in Arrowhead. They were pressing throughout most of the game and it shows. Even with how bad the offensive line played, they were able to get down there and they failed to execute.

They legitimately let the Chiefs off the hook in this game. At least offensively they did. Pederson came out and said today or yesterday that they also had a bad week of practice. Okay, that's on you and your staff to get corrected. It's the Chiefs, folks. They mentally beat themselves before playing them.

Between the lack of execution, the clear lack of focus with the drops and off throws in the redzone, and, the failure of NOT having a plan for Chris Jones outside of just "Hey, rookie, good luck out there, you got this for probably 75% of our snaps by yourself on an island out there". This whole team collectively [BLEEP] the bed in their home opener.

They let this city down. They let the fans down. Most importantly? They let THEMSELVES down. How [BLEEP] up will it be if this week two game comes back to haunt us? What if we both get red [BLEEP] hot now? Finish with the same exact records? Finish with the divisional crown respectively between the West and South?

Now what? Now you're going to [BLEEP] Arrowhead again. It's mathematically possible and probable. Both teams will get their [BLEEP] together offensively at some point this year. This game is going to sting AGAIN in about three months. Book it.

I think teams are figuring out Hurts but they still have the best olines, a top TE, and 2 of the best WRs in the league so they will still be good
