If I recall correctly, you were saying that Caldwell wasn't going to fire Fisch at the end of the season last year....
Quote:Gus can do no wrong to some of you guys, Some of y'all have such low expectations that you actually think its fine to be competing with a team with an overall crappy roster without luck and losing to Hasselbeck.

Protip: don't assume you know what people think just because they aren't calling for someone's head after barely losing a game.

Nobody knew about the behind the scenes going-ons until the rumors started flying upon his firing.

I've gotta disagree with this. I definitely think it could happen given the right circumstance. I'd rather not see it happen, because firing a coach midstream generally results in something worse(for the remainder of the season). But I could see it happening.

On the flip side, I think there is too much blame to go around to lay it on one person. Everybody always thinks the next coach is better....until he isn't.

Caldwell didn't fire Fisch.  Bradley did.  He didn't fire him mid-season either.

It would have to be a catastrophic collapse for that to happen, and I don't see that being the case.  Miami is a good example of that type of situation where they were expected to compete for the division title, and the team spent more money than any other in free agency to build toward that, and the end result was just awful.

Ok.

You were still wrong. So stating something like "If he gets fired, it won't be mid season" really means nothing. Since, you or I don't know whats going to happen.

All I'm saying is that its really not crazy to think he could get fired sooner rather than later. If this supposedly "improved" team continues to lose games they should win (like the next 2) I think he would and should be fired. starting 1-6? Unacceptable.

Philbin was a bad coach. That was easy to tell. Same with Bradley.

Miami could easily turn into the Chiefs with a better coach. The talent is there but they were just poorly coached.
Quote:You didn't respond to the first point I made.  Go figure.

Bingo.
I figured I didn't need to since if u don't see ppl defending Gus no matter what. They are using an injury excuse like the Colts starting qb or tight end wasn't out. Theres some people seriously trying to say this isn't year 3 of the rebuild. I don't want to hear no injury excuse. These people had 3 years to build the roster and cap every year, maybe bring in more depth?!

I don't want to see Gus fired before the end of the season. I really don't.

To me, this team shows that it has the talent to compete for the division title THIS year. I'll admit that I didn't expect it right at the start of the season, but as you look at the lay of the land, our schedule eases up a bit, and the afcs teams are all beatable.

I think it is just hard fur any of us to really fathom Gus actually figuring out what it takes to really get this team over the hump. His track record proves his ineptitude. But, that still doesn't mean we should cut ties yet.

There's a slight chance things actually begin to coalesce for the jags beginning this Sunday.

This game is not a must win, it's a should win game.

Being 2-3 after 5 games puts us in a good spot. Being 1-4, and I think the drum beat gets louder for him to be fired.

Going winless the rest of the way into the bye, and its a certainty that he's canned during the bye week.

But, stranger things have happened. Win on Sunday. Stop the bleeding, and get a division win against the tacks, and I think we still have a shot at the division.

For me, I think Gus is probably already out the door. I don't think he's a good coach.

I HOPE I'm wrong and we wind up 7-9. Anything less than that, and he should be gone the first Monday after the season ends.

I agree with most of what you said, except it depends on our record after the London game. If we are 2-5, I'd honestly want to see a change after that giving Marrone the wheels till the end of season and see if any improvement occurs. But if we are 3-4 heading into the break I wouldn't want that. But 2-5 it should be pretty clear we don't got our future coach

I'd love to eat crow and be proven wrong

Change just for the sake of it.  Great strategy.

Keeping the same when it clearly isn't working. Great strategy. ur telling me you'd be content with a 2-5 record going into London. Oh wait you'll just talk about the "improvements" even though the most important thing is winning.

And it would be "changing" to a coach that has more wins in ONE year then Gus has in 2.25

We could only hope...

The coach who quit his job?  Yeah, good idea.
I really want to think Gus is the man for the job but i don't think he is sadly. I like the guy. That said, i just don't think we should fire him right now. Let the season play out and make decisions then.
He won't be fired until more than likely towards the end of November. And that's assuming that this team doesn't improve for the rest of the season and starts winning some football games. It's never too late to turn things around and you never know in this league. I kept hearing today though about the "confusion" both, from some of the fans and Bradley himself as to how this team could lose despite the performances of Bortles, Yeldon and Hurns. And I felt the obvious answer was "penalties" and "untimely miscues". We had about what? Thirteen or fourteen penalties for well over one-hundred yards? Every time we'd make a play someone would manage to mess up the rhythm or have it negated. That's what did us in partly in this game. You can point at some odd play calling or the missed field goals or the lack of blitzing not being called by the coach. But, penalties didn't help.

I just think we're growing tired of the losses here. Two play-off appearances over the last fifteen years. I've graduated middle school, high school, have started a career, bought a home and have gotten engaged during that time span. Two play-off appearances in fifteen years is staggeringly disappointing. And I know some of you will take the easy route and say "Well, what about this team or that team". Folks, I don't live in those cities, and I don't cheer and support their teams. What's going on with the other thirty-one teams outside of Jacksonville is not my problem or concern. It's what this team is or isn't doing on a yearly basis.

Of course I want us to succeed. And I'd like to see Bradley be that man that leads us to those wins and more consistency. Because it's going to spare us the headaches of another off-season of "hope" and promises of "change". We have a good thing going right now in my mind and eyes with Bortles and this young offense. I feel like we're on that cusp of being that consistent team that can make some noise at the minimum. I'll keep holding on as a fan. But I seriously still have my doubts about Bradley's future here. And I don't want to see a promising QB like Bortles struggle the way Smith did in San Francisco during his career as a 49ers with the constant coaching changes. That crushes any team. But it absolutely crushes your QB.

Both will be here next season.  Book it.
