Hahaha, I'm just sick and tired of people expecting the "worst". When you expect the worst that's usually what you get.

Aside from Vernon for a minute. I'm assuming that we're going to have to sign a FS in free agency. I just cant see them risking hoping that Ramsey (1st) and Joseph (2nd) are available when we pick.

 

Who are people looking at for what we need? Just Gipson or Weddle? Is there anyone else available? I'm not convinced by Weddle being able to do the role as we need it

Reggie made more sense to me, as he at least plays the position we need.

I think they would have enough to pay for Vernon, but do they want to basically use the rest of their cap for him? They are in win now mode with Manning so I could see it happening.

Weddle would be a good stop gap. But he is going to want a long term contract. Also if we get Vernon our new front 7 will be able to get a lot more pressure thus helping out the secondary

That is true, but they have now signed two big-ticket guys, and sometimes (at least I hope) a GM could get cold feet considering doing a 3rd one in the same offseason.    They might get kind of satisfied, and pull back a little.   I hope.

Keep in mind the state taxes too. If NY offers the same money, or even slightly more, Vernon's take home will be significantly less than here. And hes basically said he's going to the highest bidder.

you guys do know Iloka played more centerfield than reggie in cinci? That just because hes a SS doesnt mean hes some one dimensional in tbe box extra linebacker right?

And that seattle scheme we all worship has played Kam deep on occasions and would have done it more had he not been trash in coverage, a problem george wouldnt have had here since he has the skill set of a FS

They had 55 mil, and still have ~33 after JPPs 10 and Jenkins' 12. They can give Vernon as much as anyone else and still have plenty of cap left over.

Thats great, and I know you really coveted Iloka, but we need a true FS. If anything, Dave drafted Sample who has a similar skill set to Iloka. 

 

Let's hope Jalen Ramsey is available to us in the draft.
