The <a class="bbc_url" href='https://twitter.com/hashtag/Raiders?src=hash'>#Raiders</a> deal for Bruce Irvin is reportedly $9.25M per year, $12.5M in first year, according to <a class="bbc_url" href='https://twitter.com/TomPelissero'>@TomPelissero</a>.

This is not outrageous. Obviously the Jags were not keen on him.

Exactly. Looks like he really just wasnt in their plans to begin with.
Listening to the Radio, Just said Giants are going to make a major push for Vernon. They said he is there too priority.
Quote:@nflnetwork Bruce Irvin's deal with #Raiders is 4 years, $37 million, including $12.5M in the first year.
Damn, that's not bad at all. Maybe his market wasn't as high as reported?
Looks like Jags are the front runners for Vernon according to Jeff Darlington. We'll see.

They just gave 12M+ to JJ.

I feel better about our chances than anyone else's at this point in time. Guess we'll just have to see.

They can try their best… That's all they can do.

We were also for Irvin.
@fieldyates Malik Jackson’s deal with Jacksonville includes a $10M signing bonus and $31.5M fully guaranteed at signing.

Wow

And we gave 21 mil to Malik and Ivory. Neither one precludes either team from making Vernon a gigantic offer we both have loads of cap room after the deals.

Don't see this as a similar situation, Irvin was just assumed based on all the things he was saying and doing on twitter. People just put it hand in hand.
Anyone else think 12m for JJ is alot. (I know I know, free agency etc...) But relative to other FA signings

The Jags have the most cap room in the NFL with a huge need at LEO...

Let's just say I like our outlook more than NYG.

<p class="">According to <a class="" href='https://twitter.com/JeffDarlington'>@JeffDarlington</a> on the NFL Network, Jaguars were ready to offer Vernon a front-loaded contract so Dolphins couldn't match.

Yes, it is. I was thinking around 9-10M.
So it's basically Jags vs Giants for Vernon?

Anybodys game now.
Even though anything can happen and i'm not "expecting" Vernon. It's obvious Vernon was 1b to 1a of Malik. We had one of the worst pass rushes in the league and that hindered where we could go. Vernon fits in as an ideal vet pass rusher who is young and still holds upside of being a 10+ sack guy, as he's done it before and is only 25 years old.

We may not land him, but we are definitely the favorite. No doubt in my mind. We have a ton of money the next couple years, we aren't going to miss out on a guy that is a main target that is leaving his team.

Last year we lost McCourty and Cobb because they returned to their home, winning teams. Vernon isn't going home.

This just simply doesn't matter on a singular case by case basis. Yes, it means we should get overall the best crop of total guys if we want to go all out...but if a team with 15+ mil in cap space (which is over half the league) is dead set on Vernon, and Vernon wants to be there, then us having 60 million and X team only having say 20 mil doesn't really make any difference.
Vernon is going to love the fact that he has Malik and Marks eating up the middle and making it so qbs can't step up. Also after seeing Irvin's deal it really makes me think we are going after Jack in the draft.
