Quote:He sucks and Oakland overpaid for him.

Just getting it out of the way now.
In before Walterfootball gives the Raiders an A+
Reminds me of the Demarco Murray situation last year where the guy really isn't all in he's just using the Jags to further his leverage. Smart move by him and his agent, I'm sure when the contract numbers come out it will be somewhat shocking.
The raiders going to be killing QBs.
Jax/Oak could be a budding rivalry

Oh yeah, for sure.
I'm telling y'all this is a blessing.

I understand we have money but getting stupid with it is not a good plan. NOW is when you throw a little extra to Vernon since you don't have to pay Irvin. Which may have why the Jags pulled out of the Bruce Irvin Sweepstakes.

Maybe we make Dante Fowler a flex OTTO/LEO and have Vernon our primary LEO,.... if He signs here

@RapSheet Bruce Irvin and Khalil Mack… Not great news for QBs facing the Oakland #Raiders.

<p style="background-color:transparent;">NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports the Raiders agreed to terms with SLB Bruce Irvin, formerly of the Seahawks,

Being dubbed a "pass rusher" by the media, Irvin has just 22 career sacks through four full seasons. He's more of a run-stopping strong-side linebacker and should greatly improve that area of Oakland's defense. He could also be asked to play defensive end after Justin Tuck retired, Aldon Smith got suspended, and Mario Edwards suffered what's believed to be a potentially career-threatening neck injury as a 2015 rookie. Irvin's signing reunites him with DC Ken Norton, who coached LBs in Seattle through the 2014 season. The Raiders had a boat load of money to spend, and have now landed LT Kelechi Osemele and Irvin as free agents.
Ryan O'Halloran is saying that he believes that Vernon has been the Jaguars plan the whole time, not Irvin.  If we get Vernon and then some secondary and o-line help, I will be very happy.

Really wanted Irvin, though. I'm sure Dave was smart about it.
We got the grand prize in Jackson

Gotta imagine they either went to like 12M+ per year, or we feel great about our chances for Vernon and want there to be room for Fowler to play somewhere.

I really don't know about this one, this hurts. I love Malik and he was my top target, but with all the buzz around Irvin I just felt like he was an automatic. Feels like we lost his almost lol.

If we get Vernon and a secondary FA then to me this FA class has been a home run. Anything else will be gravy.

Imagine Carr/Bortles becomes the new Brady/Manning. We need a competitive defense first though.
We HAVE TO get Vernon. Seriously. Your biggest role in this scheme is the LEO position. Trusting it to a rookie coming off an ACL is not wise. If I'm Dave I'm making it rain.

Ain't that a kick in the teeth.
Go after Vernon now Dave.

This ^

And we have the number-freaking-five pick in the draft to look forward to.

Good times.
@ninac Jags showing interest in trading for Kam Chancellor.
