It's interesting that neither the Jags or Atlanta went really hard after Irvin. Leads me to believe he isn't that good if neither of his former DC's wanted him (enough to get his GM to pay).

Interesting. Maybe Caldwell didn't quite like Irvin's attitude or something along those lines.

Seems like the only guy they missed out on that they wanted was Vernon. Glad they did also. Highest paid DE of all time? Pass.


Skuta has a similar build to Vernon actually. Definitely won't generate the pressures like him, but it will be interesting to see.

He did come into the NFL with character issues, but he has been clean since he been in the NFL, unless he is in the program where one more slip up he will be suspended.

 

They also just said Caldwell  told them Mario Williams was never in the mix

He didn't deny the interest they had in Vernon or McCourty and Cobb last year, so it would be weird deny interest in Irvin.

I would not be surprised to see them take a guy in the middle round that could be a backup guard and tackle. Someone who could start down the road.

That would make sense since their plan was Vernon all along.

Yeah that's the hope I guess.

 

I still would have liked more experience and depth in free agency.  You can't tell me that you feel confident in this offensive line.
