Also a big problem with the run game last year was olsens management of the balance between the backs. Now having two complete backs theres less room for error when switching between them.
But i swear to god if i see short yardage redzone carries for denard again im gonna slap the skin off olsens face.
Quote:Nobody is saying to spend the rest of it, but you have to imagine there is a line drawn in there somewhere that the team doesn't want to spend past. Every dollar not overspent is a dollar that can go towards another player... Or a dollar that can go towards overspending for high end difference makers in future years. It may be the difference in signing or not signing a Gipson or Weddle or other 2nd or 3rd tier free agents. Its not a crazy concept.
Considering how all of our free agent contracts have been drawn up in the past where we can walk away without owing another dime, and the fact that Dave has already said in the past that he has a set number for each guy that he's not willing to go past and has demonstrated this with his actions...I wouldn't worry about that.
They will spend what they deem is necessary but I highly doubt they'll spend to the point where it will hinder them in the future. They've been planning this moment for years now. Dave doesn't seem like the type to throw caution to the wind.

Yeah that blew my mind. I never understood why Yeldon never got goal line carries. It was all Gerhart and Denard....like why? Lol

Most of these deals are going to be front loaded deals. Ivory for example is probably going to be here 2, maybe 3 years. We should have no worries about the salary cap and spending a good chunk in FA.
Caldwell and Idzik have done a miraculous job with the cap and structuring contracts. We gave Malik 15M per, you better damn believe that contract benefits us in some areas for the future even though the number now we see is very big.

Come to think of it, I didn't like the raiders use of running backs when Olson was with them either. He's done great work here but if I had to nitpick something, that would be it.

Or spread out the defense with 5 wide. It worked multiple times at the end of the year.
Quote:Somebody's got to explain to me how to copy and paste things in here lol
i cant get the gif thing goin for me, for nothin
Quote:We need one solid OL signing to really help the run game... If/when we lock that up... My god.... Yeldon/Ivory vs Allen/Allen/Thomas... Pick your poison.
the center position is the giant question. Im not a big fan of the linder/cann to center thing but its a possibility.
Depending on who we add in the rest of FA, center at second pick would be nice. I know everyone wants to go D D D and no ones wrong in feeling that way but if we can fill enough holes (im looking at you, secondary) then suring up the interior would be cool.

You know maybe the reason we haven't heard anything about being linked with a center is because they may try to give bowanko a shot again.

If we get Vernon and draft Ramsey in the first. Ryan Kelly is my guy
Quote:we can sign gipson or waddle tomorrow and not worry about it one bit.
We can give Weddle a 2 year 30 million dollar deal fully guaranteed and we'd still be fine salary cap wise.
Relax.
Example:
-We sign 5 players that average out at $10 million, but are only worth $8 million.
-Next year we re-sign Blake for $25 million, Arob for $15 million, Hurns for $10 million, Linder for $10 million.
-Somehow Von Miller and/or Josh Norman make it to free agency next year. That $10 million would sure go a long way to signing either or potentially both of them... Now we get neither, or have to start restructuring contracts to even get into the conversation.
Save overpaying players for the Von Miller and Josh Normans of the world that are actual difference makers.
Its just another perspective.

It's possible that we could sign Mack. Apparently, he really, REALLY, liked his visit with Bradley last time he was here, and I'm sure he would be open to playing here. The only question left is at guard; do we sign Jeff Allen or JR Sweezy?
Quote:Lamar miller is going to get 6.5 mill in houston? Man o man does this show how desperate we are.. and murray reworked his deal to 6.5 mill per year with titans
Mr. Khan is this hurting your bill fold? I didn't know you were a cry baby on your team's messageboard.

The first time i saw denard in the redzone im thinking "oh cool outside run? toss? screen?"
Nope right up the middle into a linebacker/Wizniewskis back
Glad Toby is gone. Didn't even deserve to wear a legendary number like #21.

Poz gets cut, Lewis contract is up. Alu is up or gets cut etc..

if you add a center like mack then we dont need guards.
But given all this interest in the guards im guessing theyre going all in on this cann/linder to center thing which is discomforting to me.

That's fair, however, I think Dave's mentality is more build through the draft.
The plan included a splash of FA last year, and a tidal wave this year, but moving forward I don't feel like he plans to be a major FA player. The best teams aren't. When you blow the whole roster up, you kind of HAVE to have at least one FA heavy year like this, but going forward the focus will likely not be chasing high profile FA signings, but resigning out own picks.

Neither! We Have cann and Linder at guards.
