Another 2 mil saved when we cut Beathard. Good trade. Might need that 2 mil for a Allen extension

Actually I like it. Lots of experience. He has been good and bad at times. He survived the bad regime of Bill B after Brady left exposing that coach as a 45% winner without the GOAT playing for him.  Tough duty following Brady in New England. He will challenge for the backup role.

This, also save 2 mil this year
Remember when Baalke traded a pick for Gabbert with the 49ers?

Same energy.

We really need instant tears, sir.
I'm thinking it's all about the Benjamins because it makes no sense otherwise.
I'm cool with it. Low risk medium to high upside. Let Doug work his magic and see if Mac can be rehabilitated.

In reviewing spotrac, Mac Jones is set to make a little more than Beathard was this year but I'm not sure how current year salary that has not yet been paid is treated in a trade like this where it was guaranteed by the trading team who drafted him.  If it's paid for by us and accounted for by us, then our cap hit of carrying Mac on the 53 vs. Beathard actually goes up a bit this year.

I'm thinking on the rookie year Pats will have to pay for Macs salary.  Have to see I guess.  If we do then it's about even
we all are about to witness the biggest comeback in NFL history by a qb.  When Mac Jones gets his chance to play qb for Jags he will show how great a qb he really is as he leads the Jaguars to thier first ever Super Bowl win even with a weak o-line.

all of you will see jags should've taken Mac Jones to begin with.  Trevor is a great person ,hes just not the qb to take jags all the way. Jones is.  Lets go Jags!!!!!
4 teams were in the mix and we got him. Preseason will be interesting
Why Baalke whhhhhhyyyyyyy??

We finally make a trade and look like absolute idiots and waste a pick.

I really pray this wasn't the offseason plan
A 6th round pick balke would have blown on a bust anyway isnt bad for a solid backup.
Can’t wait for these SEC homers to talk about Mac possibly being the starter

Also, since he was taken in the first round does the 5th year option travel with him? Just curious...

With any other trade, the signing bonus must be fully accelerated and accounted for in the year of trade by the team sending the player, but base salary is the responsibility of the team receiving the player.  I'm thinking this is how this would be handled here as well, so I'm thinking cap savings was not a motive here.  We're also not picking up Mac's 5th year option, so he'll hit the free agent market next year.

It could simply be viewed by the front office as an upgrade at the back up QB position for a year, but there is room here for speculation on potential additional "why's".  My main concern is Trevor's health and expected availability early in the season if perhaps something isn't healing right and looking headed for surgery.  Hopefully, that's not the case.
Every Mac Jones interception.

Yeah, the money could go a lot of different ways.  I guess we will have to see what they agreed on in the trade

Yes, the Jags have the option.  They won't use it, of course.
We already know that Trevor will be injuried since Baalke and Pederson want to bring the same OLine.
Baalke just loves trading 6th round picks for washed out first round QBs; he took Gabbert off our hands a few years ago. I just don’t get why unless Beathard hurt himself on the golf course. Why take on such a sizable cap hit when we need space as is?
I don't mind that trade. This just confirms he is no longer a viable starter in the league. If he wants to be here then all the better. We'll see

Pray that there won't be rumors about Trevor and his contract in that case...
