2014 - 30 - Jimmie Ward S Northern Illinois
2015 - 17 - Arik Armstead DE Oregon Moved down draft order in trade with San Diego Chargers[AO]

I have already written in a previous post I do not care what he did in SF.
You can hold him accountable if you wish. My opinions are formed based on what I see here. My reasons for this is none of us really know how that organization was run. Different owners and coaches. How involved were the owners and coahes in those selections? Did that contribute to the issues that occurred there? How many were just him alone? What he has done here in the first round has been fine with me and a pretty significant improvement over our past GM's.  It is your prerogative to have a different opinion, I just do not share that opinion obviously.  By the way in case you have not heard everyone seems to be excited we now have Arik Armstead

Your post, to which I responded to, stated the following: "Baalke always hits on the first round picks.  Anyone that says different has not been paying attention or has another agenda."   Perhaps next time you should state, "with the exception of SF, Baalkie always hits ....."   even then I don't even know if that holds true considering Hutch is better than Walker ... but that's a topic for a different thread.

Of course we're happy to have Armstead.  Most teams are happy to get former 1st round picks without having to trade major draft capital ...

Hutchinson being good or bad has no bearing on if Walker was a hit or a miss. Walkers play should be your only factor.  bringing in Hutchinson to make Walker a miss is something you do to serve an agenda.

Sure in hindsight anyone who took a QB over Brady or Purdy made the wrong choice but that doesn't mean the QB they took was a miss.

So when it's announced, "with the 17th pick the Jaguars select... unknown LB.. oh. Okay" you'll be fine?

No but that's not a situation I'm worried about happening because there's no evidence that would happen. We don't even have a LB that needs replaced.

I don't usually worry about strawman arguments.

Ok, I get it we are having a discussion of semantics. Then maybe you should preference your statements with "I have no proof, but, IF Baalkie was the one behind those picks at his last job he picked bad".  LOL, we should let it drop, but if you like being that way I am a great target. You will have plethora og questionable grammar and misspellings to grip about. Enjoy! ...Smile

Guys ..... quit attempting to bring logic into this communication as I simply try to stir the pot.  Let me have fun !!!

Oh, as far as the spelling (etc.) goes, I'm 4th generation Polish so I can easily translate the above to English.  Dzięki
To say Walker isn't a hit does seem odd.
Trent out here gettin active in the 904!

I’ve been out of town on vacation in Pigeon Forge, and I over heard a couple of guys mentioning the Jaguars and the big moves.

what are the odds you're offering on this actually happening?

It's a gambling-driven league at this stage, let's play.

Maybe he darfts a punter in the third, too. That seems just as plausible. Be smarter about the things that worry you.

Nothing about rich morons worries me.

Trent Baalke is just a snake and I don't like duplicitous people.

A millionaire wouldn't deign to speak with me let alone know me.

He's just a liar and manipulator and always has been. I've said it before so I apologize for repeating myself but in SF they had many leaks, once he was gone, they all stopped

Baalke has navigated the free agency period of the offseason very well so far.

I'm excited to see who he and Doug select in the draft.

I'm optimistic about the improvements being made.

You should read Jed York's wiki article. Eye-opening, for sure.
Quote:Commenting on York's ability to manage the critical relationship between the general manager and the head coach, Michael Rosenberg wrote in Sports Illustrated, "he failed completely."[11] Rosenberg also described York's impact on the broader 49ers organization, noting that "York has created a culture that encourages selfishness, weakness and back-stabbing."

I hear you and I also heard that rumor/leak. Problem was it was made AFTER he was here in Jacksonville. Baalkie must be a ventriloquist with ability to throw his voice 2.306 miles back to SF??  So your premise is invalid.
(03-22-2024, 12:02 PM)homebiscuit Wrote: [ -> ]The latest Gene Frenette article.

It is a good start, and, let's hope they continue this trend in next month's draft. Resting on their laurels proved detrimental to the team after a surprising turnaround in 2022. Getting off to an impressive 8 -  3 start in 2023, only to collapse to a 9 - 8 finish reeks of falling off the rails mentally and physically.

It's good to see they acknowledged it publicly earlier this year as a team and they're at least staying good on their word by adding stronger presences to both sides of the football. Morse and Armstead were a good start. I hope they consider doubling down in the draft with the IOL/IDL/EDGE room after they land a quality CB early as well.

Last thing you want to see in 2024 is a repeat of 2023. Need quality, competent football players waiting in the hopper to step right in this year when the inevitable strikes. Because it will. There's an unfortunate duality to being physical. It sometimes comes at the expense of one's body.

Need an absolute MASSIVE showing this summer during training camp and during preseason as well from that 2023 draft class. They ALL need to show significant improvement in year two. Guys like Strange, Bigsby, Braswell, Lacy, Hodges & Abdullah need to make an impression fast.
