I know we all struggle to trust baalke, his talent spotting may not always be the best but I do like his strategy in free agency. He tends to plug every hole with at the very least a manageable option to keep to his board in the draft
The less we hear about Ridley, the better for us.
They better not make Allen play on the tag this season, or it'll be a complete joke for this franchise. Pay the man.

I agree. It’ll be the richest contract in Jaguars history, which is held by Malik Jackson’s $90,000,000 deal.

It's hard to argue everything else. Gabe Davis is not Calvin Ridley. Ronald Darby looks good but Darious Williams was also fairly good. Keep in mind, Darby played on a defense that lead the NFL in sacks.
The only other move that we can really look at and dissect is Darnell Savage over Rayshawn Jenkins. Which I think is an upgrade.
We brought back Cleveland and restructured Scherff. We're betting that Fortner was the issue all along and that Morse will fix it for that group. We still have plenty of time left and the draft as well.
For me, I am just glad they managed to backfill some of these key areas. We needed a C, we needed a CB2, we needed a KR/PR and we needed a WR regardless of whether or not Ridley is coming back.
This at least gives them flexibility in the draft now. The only position really left that I would like to see some transactions made are at DT and EDGE. We need to get stronger inside and more consistent off the edge outside of just Allen and Walker.
Would prefer not having to backfill that in the draft, but, it's possible that we're heading in that direction. People don't like it, but, I mentioned it in another thread, the odds are higher that Baalke leans defense there with the 17th selection and it's probably going to be a guy like Laiatu Latu or Jer'Zhan Newton.
Cooper DeJean would be my somewhat dark horse there. Only because I feel like he can do more right off the bat as a rookie. He would give you options at CB and S as well as return duties in a pinch to help with Duvarney.

Williams back to the Rams on a 3 year deal
Gabe Davis is not replacing Ridley. He’s replacing Zay.
Zay and Gabe are redundant.
Gabe is younger and better than Zay. He’s also a very good run blocker.
WR2 upgrade. Center upgrade. CB2 lateral. Safety upgrade.

Free agency is not something you want to "win" every year. Bad teams win free agency, because they don't have homegrown talent that needs to be re-signed. Good teams get comp picks because they are net losers in free agency.

If Allen's camp wants to set the market I think we wait till the draft and take Latu or Verse if one is there at our pick. Especially knowing we have to give Trev a massive contract. Possible trade if we can get Verse or Latu

Can argue the cb2 is an upgrade considering a change of scheme, and Darby been more suited to what Neilson likes to do. We got younger and cheaper at wr2 cb2 safety and returner . To me although there was no big flash signing it was very good roster management and still gives us chance to bring back Ridley and explore the next wave on the d line

Our free agency so far is "Bad play to average play" or "expensive play to cheaper pay", and I'm ok with both. If we're going to be Draft and Develop then we need to lose free agents not sign lots of them.

I think we can snag the top of our board without qualms based on the moves we've made. That may be Thomas, Mitchell, Murphy, Newton, Barton, or someone else. As a bonus, lack of desperation also makes it easier to slide back and reap current or future benefits.

What do you think they are going to draft on the offensive line? I think this year's starters are set. They just signed Cleveland and Morse. Scherff was renegotiated to a contract that I understand guarantees his 2024 salary. Harrison isn't going anywhere. The only one even conceivably on the table would be Cam, but if they were going to cut him, I think they would have already done it. That's very likely to be our starting five.
You can always upgrade depth, but I'm not sure that's necessarily going to happen either. The Jaguars have Walker Little as the swing tackle. Fortner and Tugboat are inexpensive depth at center and guard. Hance, just re-signed, has the versatility to play all positions except center. I could easily see the Jaguars staying pat with those 9 players.
I think you darft to gain reliable backups that grow into displacing the older, more expensive starters in a season or so. At the very least you get a few more younger guys to be available when the vets start wearing down over the course of a season.
The darft isn't always about today.
