If Ridley signs, Zay is gone.

You better start accepting it now.

I mean, I won't be heartbroken. I just think the WR room is stronger with him than without him. But I totally understand the cap savings and reasoning behind it.

Sadly true. Big fan of Zay but if he's going to be 4th on WR depth chart they will use that cap elsewhere. If he hadn't havd had such an injury plagued year and the off field stuff we may have got a 5th rounder or something for him off someone but now I'd think he's a cut.

If the Jags are smart they'd be planning a red zone package that includes both Zay and Gabe Davis. Both have a knack for getting open in the RZ.

There are a million ways to make cap space if they think Zay will be an asset.

I'd love to see it. Zay has been a fantastic RZ weapon for us and that's been a problem for us. Plus injuries to our starters and the drop off with the backups were an issue and keeping Zay would certainly help there.

I'd love us to keep him and like you say there are moves they could make to do that but I'm bracing myself for the news he's gone (if Ridley comes back).

Good point.  The thought about red zone issues crossed my mind earlier today as well actually.  It feels like we'll be moving up and down the field again like last year, but what about making the most of red zone opportunities?  Hopefully Morse can help us convert the 3rd and 4th and 1's when needed, but I have a feeling even though we may be stronger in that category that we're still going to struggle somewhat in the red zone with the personnel we currently have rostered + Ridley.  And Zay was a decent option in that area albeit he was absent a lot last year.
Zay is probably going to face some kind of suspension from that domestic issue last season? That shouldn't define his value to the team and the organization, he's an intelligent option out there. I'm excited at the chance that with a better interior line that Etienne will actually have room to operate and Trevor may have a pocket to step in.

I don't think he will, because the local authorities dropped the charges today.

Now we wait for official word
Hays on 1010 wondering aloud whether we might not hear anything for an hour or two after 4pm to "create the illusion that Ridley had a legitimate free agency window" so that there is no potential for grievance filed by Atlanta.

What Grievance? hahaha

That we talked to Ridley? You can't file a grievance for that.

I think that's a good point.

No it's not.

You can't file a grievance for that lol

"Hey! These guys signed a player after 4pm! You can't do that!"

Right. He didn’t sign anything before 4, there’s no grievance. They can be mad all they want, but nothing wrong with what they did even if he announced a second after 4pm

I agree he had a legitimate free agency already, but do you want to 1) absolutely have your 2nd round pick or do you want to 2) have a potential investigation and to have to argue with the league to keep your 2nd round pick which you likely win?  If we have to wait an hour or so to avoid scenario #2, I think that's just smart business.
Like they didn't know that's exactly what's happening. No on think the Jags are getting over on the Falcons, it's just stupid drama spun up for clicks.
I don’t think it matters. Everyone and their mother knows what happened. Who cares?

Am I the only one who is okay if we don't resign Ridley, I don't think hes essential, and hes pretty expensive.
