I have a feeling Ridley is staying. If not he would have signed with NE by now IMO

Probably so. I'm not sure why they need to wait on anything though. A deal isn't official until he signs, I doubt the trade said agreed and not signed. They should be able to announce it, so maybe he is just seeing if someone will up the offer.

If Ridley stays...bye Zay.  Also...bye free agent DT.

That's going to be a lot of $$$ spent on the receiving room.

While D. Henry goes to the Ravens...

I do think Baalke is good in free agency. The problem is that he is the opposite when it comes to drafting. He doesn't understand value, gets too infatuated with traits sometimes and loves drafting positions that are outdated.

Someone relay this memo to Shad. I don't have his number...
  • Trent can handle free agency ("pro personnel director") -- he can keep his salary and corner window office.
  • Bring back Dave Caldwell to handle rounds 2-7 of the darft ("scouting director").
  • To save money in paying two co-GMs, the fan board here can create a consensus value board to follow in round 1. All round 1 trades up or down must be approved by our appointed representative who will sit in a large seat at the darft-day war room table. A couple darfts ago, the fans here would've darfted Wirfs and Jefferson. We also would've darfted Hutchinson over Walker. As a whole we're going to get it right more often than Caldwell and Baalke. We just can't afford to quit our day jobs to handle scouting the lower rounds.

I'd love to try this experiment.  Make it your or someones goal to come to a consensus on one player to draft.  Rule is it has to be someone who is available at 17 and then another at 31 next year.

I think fans think it's easy because almost every name gets thrown around.  So afterwards someone is crowing how good they did.

Someone needs to lead to a consensus top 17 players and the board gets the highest player from that list as their pick that is available where we draft.  And then see year over year how it turns out.
Ridley's gotta be re-signing here and waiting to announce after 4 PM tomorrow. It's the only explanation for no announcement of him signing elsewhere.

Zay likely cut shortly after Ridley signs.

Although it is a lot of money in the WR room, I don't think Ridley breaks the bank here. 17-19 million a year for 3 years. Maybe 50 of it guaranteed.
We officially keep the 2nd round pick now?

If they sign him after 4 pm tomorrow, yes.

That's always been the plan.

Oh ok. Thought it was 4pm today, thanks.

He officially signs tomorrow after 4 pm and then yes.  If he were to technically sign today or before 4 pm tomorrow it would be before the new league year and bump the trade comp to the 2nd rounder.  No chance of that happening.

hopefully they clarify whether or not that is 4pm Eastern Standard Time prior to signing.
Do you know what is our salary cap with the signing of yesterday ?

I would keep Ridley, sign a cheap DT and draft DT/Guard/CB in the first 3 rounds.

Thats good for us. He got paid, and we dont have to play him 2x a year anymore. Unless we play Baltimore this coming season lol.

At least we don’t have to face him twice a year anymore! AND he didn’t go to Jerry World.

Is it not different for Ridley because he is still technically our player? So if he signed now that would just be the same as if he signed a few days ago?

He's the top free agent WR.  All the offers that are coming in are in.  He's either already agreed to sign with the Jags tomorrow or he's still negotiating with us off of his highest 3rd party offer.  I don't think there's anything to drag out, either our deal is compelling enough or it isn't.  I lean heavily toward he's already agreed to re-sign with us and just waiting per the Jaguars request to wait until 4 PM tomorrow so there's nothing Atlanta can say or do to argue for the 2nd.
^ Definitely the ideal scenario. Only other option I could see him maybe considering otherwise is a big pay day from a team like the Patriots but he waits until after 4pm tomorrow to accept it as a ‘thank you’ to the Jags for trading for him and giving his career a second chance.

It does sound like he wants to be in Jax and seems genuine. Maybe I’m overthinking it. Hopefully he is back but always nervous until it’s official when NFL-type of money is involved.
Pats sending us Mac was all a play to try to get Ridley. They sent him here and said “see if you stay you might end up having to play with Mac. That won’t happen here now”
I think Atlanta might have an argument, albeit a weak one, of collusion between team and player to avoid paying otherwise negotiated compensation for a trade if there is anything public about an agreement prior to 4 pm tomorrow. Even if Atlanta wouldn't pursue it further, it could just be the Jags erring on the side of caution to not solicit such pursuit.
