I could see the Jaguars signing Jacobs at a modest price. He has good experience as a starter and would be competing for a reserve role with the team. Seems to be a very confident guy whose experience would pay off. He's also only 26 so he could stick around for awhile. On the negative side, he did get flagged often for pass interference.

He was very good last season.

Also : 26 years old, already two ACL injuries  Cry

This is a respect look at kind of like the Tebow thing was.. (I hope) Any ways here is his draft profile...dude ran a scorching 4.77 in the 40.

I need to correct this. I had forgotten he ran at the combine with a pulled Hammy. He ran 4.5 and 4.58 at his pro day.  That said his comeback with the Saints produced 25 receptions on 39 targets for 265 yards. One touchdown and one fumble.  Not sure what you pay for that kind of production.

Little risk to kick the tires and see what’s left.
Not a free agent... But seeing the available funds the Jags have...trading for a 1 year usage of Marshon Latttimore... At 14 milliom....I'd give up next years 2 nd. Opinions? He's immediately the teams best corner...and Ryan Nelson has worked with him.

Don't the Jags have two 3rd rounders next year? And I'm only setting the low bar that the Jags won't resign Lassiter. Heck... Next year the Jags could choose to extend Lassitor or Campbell. Lassiter is the better corner.

It is a nice try. Saints are trying to work themselves out of cap hell. Lattimore in his 7 years has played only 2 complete seasons without injury. The last 2 years he played in 17 games out of what 34?  (7 in 2022 and 10 in 2023) Maybe a 6th and a rental contract tied to games played.

It would be nice oof Balkie makes one or two big moves before the preseason gets here.

Bring Yan home!

Great idea. It’s too good of an idea for Balkie to do it. Me sad now thinking about it.

I'd absolutely give him a call. His statistics don't lie and he could be a valuable pass-rushing specialist capable of 8-10 sacks.
In my estimation, he'd barely get on the field so the compensation would have to be commensurate of that. Walker and Allen are 3 down pash rushing ends. You could kick Walker in occasionally on 3rd downs as has been discussed ad nauseam and then bring Yan in on 3rd and longs. Yan wouldn't be spelling either guy on earlier downs because he's always been a liability against the run.

In the end, I don't think he solves the biggest problem at the position which is having a 3rd guy to sufficiently spell Walker and Allen that isn't a liability against the run, so I doubt we have much interest. Hopefully Gipson or Cole surprises as pass rushers with the help we brought in in the middle this offseason. Their bigger bodies are better suited to spell Walker and/or Allen.

The other thing is Ngakoue hasn't caught on anywhere for more than a year after leaving here. Is it that he is such a liability in the run game or is it because he doesn't ingratiate himself with the people in the building or might it be both?
I think they should target a veteran EDGE rusher still. Whether that be Ngakoue, Campbell, Dupree or Ogbah. I think we need to nab one of them. Myles Cole is a project player. May not even make the final roster and could be strung along on the PS until somebody scoops him up. Gipson has been relatively quiet on the stat sheet for two years in a row.

Dupree makes the most logical sense. With his ties to Nielsen in Atlanta last year. He's 31 years old with 53 career sacks and coming off of 6.5 last year. I am honestly surprised we haven't already signed him yet to the team. Ogbah is another guy I like that was cut by Miami. Again, nearing 31 years of age, but, has 42.5 career sacks, coming off of 5.5 last year with the Dolphins and even got some work in last year at the NT position.
It was rumored we talked to Yawn last year and he wanted to start and wouldn't come off the bench so we passed on him. That hasn't changed so we will likely pass on him again
I would take Calais before Yan.

Calais would bring leadership and a great mentor for Maason Smith and Jordan Jefferson like he used to be for Josh Allen.

They already have that in a true DT in Armstead.

Yan in a strictly pass rushing role would do just fine.

We have enough cap space to do both. I think there's a good chance we won't see Lacy and Abdullah make the final 53. Unless they move Abdullah to linebacker and make a cut there instead. Lacy I think gets bumped to the Practice Squad.

I like Myles Cole a lot. The more I read up on him, the more I think this front office will feel compelled to keep him on the roster to develop. He's going to be interesting to watch this summer. The radio folks will more than likely hype him up pretty good once he's here in the building.

But, again, give me Yannick and Calais and we have some really good veteran know how added to the team in a pinch. If all else fails? Just give me Dupree.

The money would have to be right for his role. He generally overvalues himself vis a vis the market. He can’t seem to stick anywhere. While all players are ultimately in it to get paid, he defines “mercenary”.

Bro Lassiter is on the Texans, what are you talking about? Second, having additional 3rd rounders is no reason to piss away a second. The heck are you talking about here!?!
