Jets or Pats. Most likely the Pats.

We need a FS.

I agree we need a FS, but I also think that if we cannot find one in free agency or the draft, we can still scheme around the problem.

FS covers the deep field, right?   QB needs time to throw down field, right?   Get him on the ground and he won't have time to throw down field.

OR, get another CB and move one of our CBs (Gratz?) to free safety.

And, who knows?   Sometimes you can unexpected hit on a later draft choice.
Quote:I say give Gipson an offer if it costs a 2nd rounder so be it. Is there a FS in the draft that you can get in the 2nd round better than Gipson?

The problem is, giving up a big contract PLUS the 36th pick in the draft is like trading two players for one.   And what if we give up the 36th pick in the draft, and some stud player (Todd Gurley?  Melvin Gordon?)  falls right down to that pick?   That's why I'd hate to do that.    Giving Gipson a free-agent size contract, PLUS giving up our 2nd round pick, that is way too expensive.

Yeah, that would reek of a Gene Smith move.

Never forget when he traded that pick for Derek Cox and he stated something like "we didn't see a better player that would be available at that spot next year", or something like that

There is no way we give up our 2nd rounder for Gipson. Caldwell values draft picks.

Free safety is so crucial for Bradleys defense. They're are basically the QB of the defense. Look at Earl Thomas.

So having a veteran FS who won't blow easy coverages (remember Eddie Royal?) would help this defense out a lot.

Who's the FS from KC that's a free agent? Is he still available or did he agree with the Vikes?

Plus, the 36th pick in the draft is right in that sweet spot where someone will unexpectedly fall out of the first round and land right in our lap.   No way I would give up that pick.
I just woke up and it feels like Christmas morning.

There's absolutely zero precedent based on Gene Smith's prior moves that equates to us giving Gipson an offer that won't be matched. However, teams trade up and give up future picks all the time. It is not exclusive to Gene Smith.

And no, your quote is not what Gene said about Cox. He said that they valued him as a 2nd rounder, and that trading up for him is akin to having next year's 2nd rounder being allowed to play one season early.

I just told a lady at work the same thing.  She's an Eagles fan so she doesn't really feel the same way. lol

We have been rumored with Ron Parker, and also Rahim Moore. Both would be nice upgrades.

Jags were also one of the teams that sent a large contingent to the seemingly fastest rising player in the draft's pro day, ASU FS Damarious Randall.

Damarious??

What, was L'Carpetron Dookmarriot taken?
I am surprised we haven't heard a thing about Kendrick Lewis. Seems like he is fairly on par with Moore and Parker. I'd be quite happy with him too, but I haven't seen him linked with anyone.

Or Tyroil Smoochie-Wallace?

The rumor mill is slow this morning.  Yesterday was fast and furious.

Who's really left that we don't have an idea about?

Hardy

Moore

Murray

Then its mostly second tier guys. Even Murray is linked here mostly but he's been pretty secretive

The one I really want to know about is Hardy.  If we get him, thats a game changer.

Fingers crossed.
Not really F/A news but something to get people more excited for Julius.
