It's not about that. You still don't overpay for running backs. He's 27, right? It's not worth the risk on a guy that has had injury issues in the past.
Jacksonville looking at Browner.... A little shocked by this but I guess you can never have too many corners.

Brandon Browner is in New Orleans for a visit. Washington, Baltimore, Cleveland, Jacksonville also interested.

It makes sense from the standpoints of system / HC familiarity. And like you mentioned, you can never have enough CB's. It's better to have one too many, than one too few.

All of Jaguars' free-agent acquisitions are supposed to arrive at the facility at the same time today. Physicals, signings, news conference.

If we don't overpay for Murray, we'll have to overpay for someone else. There's not much else we can do with the money. Even if it's in essence a 2-year deal, the main benefits would be:
1) we don't spend a draft pick on a RB; get to use it for something else
2) it helps Bortles, and at this point, everything we do on offense has to be about helping Bortles.

Wouldn't it be awesome if Murray just shows up with Parnell?

If we land Browner, Gratz may be in trouble at that point.

If we sign Browner, someone has to move to FS.

Or lets say the press conference starts... all the guys are there answering questions and one guy all the way in the back asks the question "How would you guys like to have the leading rusher in the NFL on yo squad? DUUUUUUUVVVVAAAAALLLLL!!!"
Murray then heads to the podium and says he's joining the jags.
Thats how i'd do it.

more likely Jeremy Harris
dude hasnt been able to stay/get on the field

I think there would be a place for both players, even at the CB positions alone. Especially, when factoring in injuries and teams that use 4 or even 5 receiver sets.

I would be surprised if they end up signing him. No harm in looking though.
Quote:Hmmm. I'd love to add Murray to the fold but am quite pleased overall with how FA has gone so far. Added solid contributors to almost every position that was a weakness last season. If we can somehow work a deal for Gipson the secondary could be deadly, followed by a front four of Bryant/Odrick, Miller, Marks, Clemons/Branch mashing the QB into the ground. Smith and Skuta flying around leveling people, McCray/Colvin/Gratz/House picking passes off, while Cyp and Gipson are headhunting int he secondary? Oof....
I wonder how much of a role Serg Brown might have regarding the fs spot. Starter?

I would think we would carry at least 5 CBs on the 53 man roster. Gratz, Colvin, McCray, House, Browner.
Also, injuries happen.

Being that FS is a need for the Jaguars, signing Brandon Browner would provide the team with the additional opportunities of mixing and matching. The more versatility a player has, in most cases it increases his value to a team significantly.
in no particular order:
1. McCray
2. House
3. Colvin
4. Ball(?)
5. Browner
6. Harris
7. Gratz

True. And I think he has enough talent to keep that fifth spot, but if another guy steps up like McCray did you never know
As it stands now, I'd have to say he's the front runner for the job.
