Has anyone heard anything on Jason Worlids or Orlando Franklin
Quote:Say we did get Odrick. So, Miller moves to 2nd string and Hood goes to 3rd? Miller didn't do that bad, but considering our overall run defense wasn't great, Odrick may be welcome.

I doubt Odrick would start at nose here since his production dipped there and he was successful at 3-tech. My guess is that he'd start in place of Marks until Sen'Derrick is fully healthy and then take over as the 5-tech or primary backup DT. Maybe Ziggy's on the chopping block if we get a worthwhile replacement. I didn't think Hood did that good of a job and both Jones and Alualu outplayed him. He also makes $4 million the next three years, but he has zero dead money if cut.
Quote:24 touchdown receptions in 2 seasons for Thomas. Wow.

For comparison Marcedes Lewis has 27 in 9 seasons.

One one hand we have Peyton Manning.

On the other we have Garrard, Gabbert, Henne, and Bortles.
Regardless, Odrick sounds like a welcome addition to help the run defense, should we land him. Also, good against the pass, which would only be a plus for his role.

One hand you have an athletic tight end with good hands.

On the other you have a tight end who runs like a wounded giraffe with bricks for hands and the explosion of a high school lineman.

It does not matter who your quarterback is when you have a severe case of dropitis. Many perfect passes were dropped by #89.
So do we now drop Lewis? Or pay 7 mil for a blocker?

Thomas is going to move around probably, there's no reason to drop a good blocking TE who CAN catch a pass or two with his size. You need more than 1 TE. Not like we need that money for anything else, we aren't going to spend to our cap this offseason.

On the Lewis topic....   this. ^
Those two tight end sets would be awesome too.

PFF article on Odrick for those interested.

Sooooo Clay Harbor is the back up Move? I like that
I heard Daniel Jeremiah say last year something like that scouts talk about TE's blocking skills for like a second. It's all about being a pass catcher nowadays.

Hmmmm Red/Odrick/Tyson at 5 technique is really deep

Suitable role for him, IMO.  And Jensen/Jacobs can scrap it out for a spot on the practice squad as replacements for Lewis if he's hurt.  Fingers crossed it works out that way.

Odrick- would likely play 3 tech IMO, rotating with Sen'Derrick  -  but he could probably rotate at 5 tech if needed.  His versatility is intriguing.

Yes it is. And like PFF's blurb said, Odrick's biggest knock so far is he tends to wear down late in the season because he played over 800 snaps a year. Put him in a solid rotation to keep him fresh and he can be a force all year.

Don't mistake what I said as backing up Marcedes. He's terrible.
Hey, at least we appear to have locked up one elite FA and have many more solid irons in the fire. Could always be the Raiders...
