I would feel bad for most players if they had both knees repaired and then the Achilles injury. It's that much more difficult in the case of Ryan Broyles because of his tremendous football and overall character. Broyles had a very strong 2014 pre-season and the Lions fan base collectively was thrilled that he made the 53 man roster. Yet, for whatever reason ( s ), the new coaching staff rarely gave Broyles opportunities. This even went beyond Broyles not being on the game day roster because he doesn't offer enough on Special Teams. Even in the few games Broyles was on the Game Day roster because of high ankle sprain that Calvin Johnson dealt with, Broyles got very few opportunities.
Ryan Broyles is still on the Detroit roster. He's entering the final year of his rookie contract. Hence, he has a modest cap figure. I'm not optimistic that Broyles will get a much greater opportunity. Unless the coaching staff thinks Broyles can offer more in the regular season, I don't think he will make the 53 man roster. If that happens, I'll be still pulling for him.

If they had confidence in Milliner and Wilson (the corner they drafted from Boise St. a few years back), there's no way they do that.

Agreed. Even before the Achilles tendon injury Dee Milliner suffered last September, he was battling injures and coming off a rookie season in which he didn't really hit stride until the final two games.
It's almost a given that Kyle Wilson will be signing with another team. He never came remotely close to living up to his draft billing as a late 1st Round pick. Wilson probably will have to sign a modest at best contract. He's the type of player who likely will have to fight to make a 53 man roster.

There was a tweet a couple days ago saying we were interested in him and Dave didn't dismiss the idea of bringing him in yesterday. That's about it though.

I'm still in disbelief the terms of the terms of the contract. It might not see much on the grand scale but what other team would have matched or topped the 49ers offer? I can't think of any.
