I think it's a Goodell conspiracy.. He hates the Jags and wants them to move to north korea.. lots of untapped potential..
Quote:And the Suh signing just proved my point.
I am not sure Jags had any real interest in Suh. It's possible that media kept mentioning is as a suitor because we had the cash. Oesher for one kept saying he didn't expect Suh to be pursued by the team and another article I read recently (sorry, can't remember where) said that agents float rumors to up value. Maybe we tried and failed, or maybe we didn't even try.
Quote:No one should seriously be upset that Dave decided not to beat a 19mil/yr, 60mil guaranteed contract to a non QB. And that's if Suh was open to signing with the Jags period.
I agree with this. I want no part of that contract for a guy that's not throwing TD passes.
The Dolphins are a mess.
@JasonPhilCole: Two sources indicating TE Julius Thomas is just about done/signed in Jacksonville

I never thought we'd sign him but I understand why people would be upset. They see all the money the Jags have to spend and want a big name player to justify to them that this regime wants to win (even if that's a very simplistic view).
I wouldn't pay that kinda money to a DT, even if he is one of the best in the league. Suh isn't going to make the Dolphins Super Bowl contenders, they may actually end up being a weaker team if they can't keep some of their other talent because of his contract.
The Jags have way too many holes to throw a bunch of cash at one player.

Agreed. Suh is amazing, but I'd still be feeling warm and fuzzy if we land a Julius, Buluga, McCourty combo.
Julius Thomas
Byron Maxwell
Rodney Hudson
Jeremy Parnell
Set your expectations for this.

I can't wait to read an official report Tuesday.

Replace Hudson with Pernell Mcphee or Orakpo and you might not be far off.

That's a pretty reasonable point of view. I would have been pretty happy if we had landed Suh, though.
Ok, I will go one further...no one should be seriously upset if we only land one marquee FA (such as Julius Thomas). As I said at least a dozen times over the last week or two, there were 18 teams with 20+ mil cap space, 8 teams with 40+, and I believe 4 teams with 60+. That doesn't even count a team like the Dolphins who just managed to manipulate the salary cap to hand out the biggest non QB contract in history with only about 10 mil cap space going into FA.
If you are upset because we only land one elite guy with that unprecedented crazy amount of cap competition, most or all of whom are perceived to be closer to competing or a better market, then I feel sorry for your expectations too. If we manage to sneak in McCourty or something else then great, but if we only get another handful of impact second tier guys like Parnell, Odrick, Moore or Parker, etc. then it was still a wonderful FA period and we will be a greatly improved roster going into the draft.

You should probably stay off the internet until then.
Why pursue Suh when Williams could be there at 3.

If Williams is there at 3 the Titans are morons....so, there's probably a good chance he'll be there.
I'm still dumbfounded on how Miami is pulling off the contract. I'm cool with no getting him, but I'm just wondering if it's being leveraged as done to see if anyone is willing to bid higher?

Doesn't really make sense though. We have to spend more money than that.
Thomas
Maxwell
Bulaga
Odrick
Orakpo
