I'm not sure what connection you're trying to make here, but I know you love a good conspiracy.

I follow Gottlieb on Twitter and he has actually been pretty insightful and often times very critical of the government's/CDC's response to this mess. From lack of testing, lack of clear data for decision making, lack of PP&E etc.  His predictions for the events that happen seem to be pretty accurate, too.
Pfizer's income stream of getting old men boners is going limp as the sex-crazed baby boomers of the 60's die off; they need new income streams. Enter the Covid. What could be a better income steam than artificially propping up immune systems so that a booster is sold every 6 months? And now they are pushing to expand that income stream by applying for permission to offer the vaccine to your 5 - 11 year olds. Does current data support this? Doesn't matter. Big Pharma has been waiting for years for an easy open door to designer drugs, and Covid is the early softening of the public to experimentation in the name of public health.

That you only know them for Viagra illustrates the miniscual nature of your understanding of the topic.

From what a fellow employee told me who works in another department, this is not going to go well with a lot of the younger folks who won’t get the shot. Expect mass walkouts, he says.
Mine issued it this morning, have some federal contracts but it is a very small part of the overall revenue but they still are going to try and force all US employees. They don't care that you don't work in that one group, work from home, etc. Makes no sense other than a power trip.

Have to file my exemption and talk to a lawyer. They also are saying they aren't going to fire you, just make you unpaid.

There goes any extra hours and probably not working Fridays until my exemption is approved.

OSHA hasn't even done anything yet. They are trying to scare as many employers into bending the knee as possible before people realize OSHA can't actually do anything.

Stand firm.

Against what? If your employer mandates they are within their legal rights to do so.

I assume p_rushing isn't talking to his lawyer for fun.

Also, decreasing your tax base by firing employees who have done nothing wrong while spending trillions of dollars of money we don't have seems like a genius idea to get this country already crippled by rising inflation back on track.

That's his point. Make an order that carries no weight so that businesses will get scared and do it for you. Then it doesn't matter if Biden's order is unconstitutional or not. It's a game of chicken. Biden to businesses. Businesses to their employees.

I apologize for my flaccid attempt at humor; of course I know they make a ton more; my wife prescribes a lot of them, and daily listens to moronic drug reps shill endlessly for them. Point is, a booster that can be sold to the public every six months on a nationwide level to demographic groups that may or may not even need it reeks of greed. But hey, they have the public interest at heart, right? No way it could be about thier bottom line.

Screw any companies that put thier employees in this position. If possible, people should avoid doing biz with them, and seek out alternative companies for thier business that dont require this. The only thing that gets thier attention is any adverse effect to thier bottom line. Thank God my company isnt cow-towing to this BS.

I'm sure he thinks so. And when companies who dont require it start getting hit with negligence lawsuits that actually do have legal merit then you'll begin to understand exactly how the legal system will be weaponized to benefit the lawyers no matter which choice the company makes.

Companies that didn't require masking early on are already going to get pounded with negligence  lawsuits once the dust settles. You won't be able to watch a television show without a lawyer ad.

Absolutely. Mesothelioma lawsuits are so 2020.
This country is going to [BLEEP].

2019 was a REALLY hard year for me recovering from major abdominal surgery and I'd take that year again just to enjoy life before 2020 and beyond. All this stuff that is happening with Covid, politically, the state of the nation and society in general is here to stay.

You answered your own question. They are making these decisions in the interest of self-preservation. I have said this before.

Almost nobody is following "the science." They are following our corrupted institutions who are not following the greater body of evidence but the almighty dollar. If the institution is corrupt, and it holds sway in judicial matters, the courts will often rely on their testimony, even if it's bonkers. Kind of like the election stuff. Trump had no standing because he had no institutional support. The writing is on the wall for this as well, and businesses know it. Comply and get by.

I took a jacket into Men's Warehouse today to get an adjustment made, and they told me they couldn't tailor the blazer unless I had it dry cleaned first. Lol. What? Why was that policy made, FSG? It doesn't make any sense. It certainly doesn't follow any of the data about Covid. They said it was to protect their tailors from Covid. It could just be that their leadership is stupid, and doesn't know anything about this virus or they really could just be trying to gain protection from liability. Why not both? Kind of reminded me of waiving testing in people who have been vaccinated. Nonsensical policy that doesn't actually protect anyone, but it's satisfactory enough for companies to make the most people while insulating themselves from lawsuits.

It's really interesting how cynical you've become. You're attributing the worst characteristics of humanity to thousands of business owners across the nation. I don't know why your tailor made that call. Maybe his brother owns the dry cleaners next door and he's driving him business. Maybe he's scared and wants to do everything possible to protect his employees from Covid. Maybe it's purely driven by risk mitigation. But your assessment is made from your own place of cynicism and distrust of...well, pretty much everything, and when you can't give anyone the benefit of the doubt about anything that's a hard place to live.

How do you describe a bus full of lawyers with a single empty seat going over a cliff?

A missed opportunity!
