Yep

It makes no sense AT ALL. Pederson said no to baalke already.

Maybe Khan't got offended by Byron's ultimatum? now he is willing to get rid of Baalke but doesn't want Byron? who knows...

Unfortunately, it makes perfect sense.  Seems well established khan wants Baalke.  He apparently liked Byron.  Not willing to fire Baalke unless he has to.

“So, Mr Pederson, you already know I’ll fire Baalke if I absolutely have to.  If I do that, I’m hiring Byron.  You were our second choice. So.. do you think you can work with Baalke now?”

Maybe Khan is flexible on Baalke.  Big fan of Pederson.

We don’t know that. I would take Pederson over Bevell, Fangio, and anyone at this point. Maybe Peterson can live with backstabber Baalke since no one else seems to want to hire him as HC. He’ll just need to get in good with Tony to counteract Baalke’s effect on the old man.

Whoa! Mods need to remove this. EXTREMELY INAPPROPRITE

I am as well but if baalke stays on it’s a hollow victory
I wouldn’t mind Pederson whatsoever. Had this been the hiring a week or two ago I’d be completely fine with it. It’s just the little taste of getting rid of Baalke and getting Leftwich and the fact that that was plausible inside the building, means I will accept no less! Somehow, even if we get a candidate we mostly all wanted/accepted previously, still feels like a loss. I think we’d be all wondering what could have been with Wilson/Leftwich

To add to my post, this would be a huge test to Pedersons character. If he takes the job now where previously he wouldn’t under TB, we know he is just trying to get paid. If he sticks to his anti-Baalke terms, good for him too!

It’s so sad us fans have to be put through this soap opera.

It’s kinda starting to look that way.   There was an article published by NBC Sports this morning about Pederson being lukewarm on coming here because of Baalke and what he went through in Philly.

Someone, probably SamusAranX, mentioned Shad getting “cold feet” over moving on Byron this quickly, and I’m starting to get the impression that it’s possible that it’s more of a case of Shad being afraid to make a decision than it is his loyalty to Baalke.  It’s almost like if he keeps Baalke and screws up on the HC hire, he can blame it on deciding to keep Baalke, but if he fires Baalke and screws up the HC/GM hire, it’s all on him.  Obviously, this is nothing but pure conjecture on my part, but even the most irrational behavior has an underlying motive, and I’m just trying to figure out what Shad’s is.
Hearing from one of the equipment guys that it's going to be Caldwell in at an executive level with Baalke demoted and working beneath him.

They're looking to reel in Pederson by the end of tomorrow as well.

Now I wouldn’t hate this move.  I won’t be super happy and excited.  But damn.  Can they cut to the chase and demote him to parking lot attendant so they can just hire whoever they want?

I am convinced khan lucked his way into money. No businessman can be this freakin dumb.

I like Pederson too which I said all the way back at the start. He has a superbowl victory and always had good teams in philly. He checks off the retread box that a lot here want, and he also is known for having good offenses which is what some of us others are worried about. However, I would rather see leftwitch get his shot. We will see who eventually.

It's too late to fire Baalke. He's needed for roster input and transactions. The hope is that Caldwell [with more than likely Pederson's direct input] will have final say in personnel decisions.

Pederson already has his staff in place. He already knows what he wants to do vision wise. He's probably the safest bet at this time.

So, we'll see.

Not my top choice but not bad either.

Like I said, at worst I feel like Pederson would make us mediocre (which would be a massive improvement over what we are) but more importantly he would develop Trevor.

I would have preferred Leftwich/Wilson, but I can live with that, especially if Baalke gets canned after the draft.  That’s starting to seem like Shad’s M.O.  “Gee Trent, you know I’m in your corner, but at the end of the day, that’s Jim’s decision.”
Out of all our candidates Pederson was the only one I actually really liked. He'll yeah, SB winning HC
