Next step:  fire Baalke.

Outstanding!

Wouldn't mind him here one bit. Here's a quick run down on him and why I think he's a great fit for this team at the moment.

For starters. He's a Tony Dungy guy. He was with him in Tampa Bay in 2001 for a year and then quickly followed him over to the clots in 2002 - 2008 where he assisted him as the HC and coached up Manning.

He took over in 2009 - 2011 and had immediate success. Again, Manning helped there. We all know how 2011 ended. It was ugly and the suck for Luck sweepstakes was very real. After he was fired it took less than two weeks for Harbaugh and the Ravens to snap him up. From 2012 to 2013 he was able to coach up and coordinate the Ravens into a SB win with Flacco as his QB.

This landed him a job in Detroit, where, IMHO, really showcases his abilities as a headcoach for this team in Jacksonville. From 2014 - 2017 Detroit saw a good amount of success under him. Success they really hadn't seen much prior to him and since him. He was able to Stafford's completion percentage up consistently with Joe Lombardi. This was also with two years of Calvin Johnson Jr. retired.

He then ended up in Miami with Flores in 2019. That's the year Fitzpatrick was playing his best football since 2015 when he was with the Jets. That was also for a team with a blown up roster that went 5 - 11. Completely devoid of talent at that time.

Not overly concerned with his age. He's 66. Carroll is 69 (Noice). Belichick is 68 as is Arians. Zimmer and Culley are 65. Reid is 63. I would expect he probably gives the team a solid 2 - 3 years and he's already got his replacement in mind to take over the team like he did for Dungy when they were paired up with the clots.

Hopefully he's got some interesting connections for the GM position. Would be cool to see him pull Ozzie Newsome out of retirement. Or maybe he ties with the Dolphins from his recent stint in 2019. Allen would be interesting. Or maybe even Rick Smith. Hell, who knows?

My dream off-season would be him as Pedersen's assistant hc/QB coach/OC with Ozzie as GM.
Pederson seems like a good pick to me, but players seem to want to play for Caldwell so much. That would be helpful given our current reputation.

In summary, I will be OK with either.
I heard there are some jim hardball rumors

That's for the Raiders.
I saw something where Baalke was staying on and that he was pushing hard for Bill O'Brien. Big Grin

Yeah. I've seen the burns about it for a few days now. I've also seen some folks tapped in to the org on twitter discrediting the report, so... who knows?

I think the laws of probability simply won't let Khan screw up that bad this year.

It'd be like the roulette wheel landing on double zeros 6 times in a row. LOL

We will try to squeeze out as many division titles as we can before Jax and Houston finally figure out how to get their [BLEEP] together Big Grin  Which they eventually will.
I have no doubt Baalke is pushing hard for guys that he thinks will keep him around.
I guess things could pick up fast once this last game of the season is played

That's for the Raiders.

from what I saw, it was all speculation regarding Harbaugh, and that they "thought" he'd prefer the Raiders over the Jags due to some pre-existing relationships in both places - good relationships in Vegas and bad relationships (Baalke) here.  I wouldn't hate hiring him as our coach, he was successful in SanFran in spite of the GM - and if he were to come here, it would guarantee that Baalke is gone!

Harbaugh and O'Brien may be the two worst hires for me. Harbaugh never lasts long in one place because his coaching style goes stale after a while.

O'Brien is awful and I have no clue how you can hire him after seeing how things played out in Houston. He traded Hopkins for David Johnson!

Maybe the single worst trade in NFL history.
