Doug Pederson and Matt Nagy both got head coaching jobs after being OC for the Chiefs and Andy Reid.

I think people want Bieniemy because the see the success of the KC offense, and he's the OC over there.
Andy Reid is the mastermind behind that offensive. Bienemy would be a mistake.
If we want a Reid disciple let's go get the guy that already has 1 SB ring and never had Mahomes. I hope we really look at Pederson

I rarely agree with you, but this does has to happen first.

Let him choose the HC.  I don't want to see a second straight draft [BLEEP] up by an incompetent GM.
I want to like Pederson but I wonder why him and Wentz soured. At least make sure it wasn't Pederson's fault.
Jags should hire my dad,and i. Dad has the knowdelge, and i  have the fire ,and can hype up players like john henderson did. I also  would be able to tell players what they need to do to get better.

the biggest one though is NFL couldn't pay my dad,and i enough money to keep loseing. we would make sure we did everything to get jags winning, even tell nfl to keep thier money.

Sorry Wolfie, but we can't have you getting slapped by coaches. That's what got us into this mess in the first place.

Yes, it starts from the top.  If we get the right GM he can a good coach and we can finally start having some good drafts and get this thing turned around

Calling plays doesn't mean a whole lot when looking for good HC characteristics.

But the entire reason for his marketability is the perception he is responsible for the success or KC offense.

No one has that perception, lol.
Yes, but he's been interviewed by most of the league and never gets the job. There's something there that I'm concerned about.
I’m thinking Leftwich. But does he leave TB? I think he would be great for Tlaw. And I think would be able to earn the locker room. But ultimately, Shad has to make the right decision. It’s not about flash or hype.

Then what is the appeal? Like mentioned above, he has already been passed over last offseason.  What has changed?

The appeal is he is Reid's right hand man.

Given the recent firestorm of media criticism and howling wolves toward Urban, I feel the same way. Byron will likely get a job sooner than later, but I highly doubt it's in Jax.

I think one of the biggest challenges for the young coordinator/first time HC is going to be assembling a coaching staff. How many connections do they have, how well will everyone gel if they've not had experience working together in the past? If you start with a young HC, I think a seasoned GM is necessary to help with the recommendations to fill out the assistants and position coaches.
This is the guy

(12-16-2021, 08:18 AM)The Real Marty Wrote: [ -> ]Why not?  He's a man, isn't he?  Initial polls indicate Leftwich is the choice of the fans.  It's a good job, with a prospective franchise QB, and lots of cap room.  Coaches don't turn down HC opportunities.  Yes, he would return.  Absolutely.

If he'd pass up the shot at being a head coach because of hurt feefees then he's not head coaching material.

I'm not someone that's slobbering for Leftwich, but I don't recall him being treated particularly worse than any other top ten bust.

He replaced Brunell, he didn't look like Brunell, he didn't talk like Brunell, and for some fans, that was unforgiveable regardless of the team's performance. He was never a bust. For those that might have thought him a bust, I imagine the Gabbert years had them catatonic.
I'm indifferent on Iron Byron. I loved him as a player here and like the idea of hiring someone who is "hungry" to prove themselves versus a retread with scar tissue.

It would be a good job for him with some familiarity.

A ton of players like him and respect him.

He's almost 70.  I would be nice if we can get a coach that could stay through Trevor's career

WHOA! I didn't realize that.

I'd be ok with that hire, as long as he was able to hitch himself to a bright young OC that is going to be able to foster TLaw's development and maybe work his way into the head job within a few seasons.
