I'm not someone that's slobbering for Leftwich, but I don't recall him being treated particularly worse than any other top ten bust.

He replaced Brunell, he didn't look like Brunell, he didn't talk like Brunell, and for some fans, that was unforgiveable regardless of the team's performance. He was never a bust. For those that might have thought him a bust, I imagine the Gabbert years had them catatonic.

Any time you draft a guy in the top ten and he is benched even before his rookie contract ends, then he's a bust.

Sure we've had bigger busts here, but don't try to kid us, he was a huge bust, especially since we were in position to draft a future Hall of fame QB repeatedly over the next few seasons, but the team fell into the sunk cost fallacy and stuck with the guy they wasted a top ten pick on, repeatedly drafting more busts in an effort to make him work.

This is vitally important. Someone from a winning organization that knows how to make good draft selections.

I can respect everyone's desire for their own candidate, but I don't understand the desire for Bienemy.  I just don't get it.

For me, it's the fact that he's been touted for years as a prime candidate, but after all this time he's still failed to land the job. He either doesn't interview well, has some strict demands, or something that leads every team to go in a different direction.

There's something fishy about it.

Really want Wentz got hurt is when it seemed like everything  started going downhill

Well, that or Reich taking the clots' job.

A ton of players like him and respect him.

Too old, and too little coaching the last handful of years. One year of assistant coaching in the last half decade since he got fired by the Lions. The NFL trends move like a blur and I am not sure that I trust someone that old and that out of touch with the game to be able to jump right back in and immediately get back to top shape. He does seem like a great person who players love, but regrettably it's a hard pass from me.
Why can't we have some ultra talented GM or HC look at this organization and be like "I want to prove myself the GOAT by taking this ubertrash organization to the top"? Does nobody think like that anymore?

The exact same thing happened to Tony Dungy.  Exactly the same thing.
1. Not Darrel Bevel
2. Not Darrel Bevel
3. Not Josh McDaniels

LOL.
my top candidates are

Brian Daboll
Byron Leftwich
Doug Pederson
Jim Caldwell
Josh McDaniels - but his segment in Indy is my only concern on this one.

either way we can start interviewing for interest in Dec. now this year with 2 games left in the season. so i believe we can start talking to them Dec. 27th.

He's a risk.  If he goes off the rails again, then everyone is going to say he never should have been hired and Khan should have seen it.

As a player at Colorado, Bieniemy was arrested along with a teammate following a February 1988 bar fight.[11] He pleaded no contest to disorderly conduct and fighting in public, and was sentenced to community service.[11] He also received discipline from head coach Bill McCartney.[11]
On July 4, 1990, Bieniemy pleaded no contest to interfering with a firefighter who had been performing his duties to extinguish a fire in Bieniemy's mother's garage.[12] Bieniemy received an eight-month suspended sentence[13] and was suspended for one game.[14] Bieniemy was instructed to do 40 hours of community service and attend an eight-hour firefighting training session.[12] An assistant city attorney said Bieniemy failed to attend the firefighting training session as stipulated in the plea agreement, but Bieniemy asserted the session was optional.[12]
In 1989, Bieniemy was ticketed in Westminster, Colorado for driving a defective vehicle, and in Aurora, Colorado for speeding. In October 1990, Bieniemy's license was suspended for a year after another traffic violation. On March 21, 1991, Bieniemy was caught speeding and driving with suspended license on I-70 near Rifle, Colorado, going 92 mph in a 65 mph zone. On April 17, 1991, Bieniemy failed to appear in court on charges relating to the March 21 incident. A bench warrant was issued in Colorado for his arrest on April 23, 1991, two days after he was drafted in the 1991 NFL Draft.[12]
On September 27, 1993, Bieniemy was arrested in Boulder, Colorado, for allegedly harassing a female parking attendant. According to the police report, while with his friends, Bieniemy put his hand on the attendant's neck, startling her. She told police he also made a comment about "a bunch of black males all at once being her worst nightmare,"[13] and that Bieniemy and his friends took off their pants and began urinating nearby. Bieniemy was also named in an outstanding warrant on a charge of driving with a suspended license. As a result of this incident, Bieniemy was banned from the University of Colorado Boulder campus for one year.[6][15]
In April 2001, Bieniemy was arrested for driving under the influence and was docked a month's pay.[16]

McDaniels took the job in Indy, hired a staff, then quit.

Caldwell is too old
Pederson no. They won because Reich was OC to Wentz Look at those two now.
McDaniels hate to but pass. The Indy debacle is why, not because he drafted Tebow. Well, yes but it was because he drafted him in the 1st round and not the fifth as a TE

That leaves Daboll and Lefttwich. My leaning is toward Daboll but whoever he is, he needs to be a young, up and coming offensive minded coach. The GM position, at this moment, is just about as important as the next HC. Baalke has got to go.
Most of the time, an owner will go the complete opposite of the coach they just fired.

My best guess is that Shad goes with someone with proven success like Pederson or Caldwell.
I'd have to pick Daboll as the next HC. He has the experience developing Josh Allen. He seems to have the right temperament to succeed for the long haul. The other candidates (Leftwich, Bienemy, McDaniels, etc.) all have question marks in my mind. Definitely not a "sexy" pick, but we see how Meyer turned out.
Seems like Daboll is a consensus favorite. I’m a strong believer in majority opinion (even though we are fans that don’t know anything), the intuition is strong. Let’s get Daboll!
Can anyone help me remember the last HC with no hair that was successful? Dungy?

Saleh, Bradley.

No need to get snippy. Just a question.
Bruce Arians is bald. I'm ok with Daboll now.

Edit: But he hides it. Hmm.....
