What good has having a head coach done us throughout the past decade? Why not just make Trevor a player/coach and we could ultimately funnel his $400 million dollar contract to him as a head coach (and allocate $650,000 toward his cap salary. It's alternate ideas like this that may have the Jags looking to me as the future GM
I thought I saw that it was Klint Kubiak, not his dad being considered as a possible OC. He was most recently the Vikings OC. I don't know how well respected he is around the league but would be much younger rhan Gary in that QB room.

Our hope is now in Spielman and Pederson

Abandon hope all who post here. We will get what we get.

But I’m kinda tired of seeing a gaggle of old white coaches.
I really loved the idea of having a young coach who happened to be a minority. These young coaches seem to be doing well in the NFL.

Skin color should have nothing to do with it. If you're tired of seeing white coaches, yes that is racist as far as the age part, that's a bit different. Older coaches tend to play the game the old ways, younger coaches tend to do spice things up. Actually I'd say that's pretty much how things are done in every profession. But yes, for sure having a GOOOOD coach who is a minority would be cool, I am just not in favor of hiring a minority just to say we hired one. If the Jags would get to the super bowl with a white guy I would rather that than hiring a black guy who never took us there. Young, commanding, innovative skin color wouldn't even cross my mind.

Congratulations on your wisdom and fair mindedness. You have also just officially disqualified yourself from picking the next Supreme Court justice.
What's gonna be hilarious is when O'Connell says - No. Sheesh.
I think waiting on O’Connell would be huge mistake. They need to lock this down while there’s still an opportunity to salvage it.
Yeah, we've got at least 2 weeks to wait now. Will we be the last team to make a hire?
This carousel is frustrating as hell. Khan is worse than my wife trying to decide on what she wants to eat for dinner on Friday. Somebody just pretend you're taking Khan out to see his favorite candidate and as soon as he says that person's name you [BLEEP] call his agent and you get him hired.

Agreed completely.

Probably out of the question with the lawsuit but no interest in Brian Flores?

You're joking (I think) but I have actually wondered something like this. What if there was no HC? If the HC's job is to coach the coaches, why not just have the coordinators be in charge of their side of the ball and the coaches be accountable to the GM. I mean there are HC's that call their own plays, how much different could it be if we have 2 HC's calling their own plays on their side of the ball and they do the other stuff. It will never happen but could be an interesting experiment.

Do not care about waiting but the bigger issue is if O'onnell doesn't work out or just does not want to be here, we are picking scraps at that point.  It's fine to do our due diligence but Khan has proven in the past to have too much patience.

Flores didn't exactly have a good relationship with his young QB in Miami. Plus he is suing Denver over his interview. Guy is toxic

Wow.
I guess Brian Flores wants that brave Nike money. Money for nothing and racism yeah
NFL is in an interesting pickle on that one.

From a neutral observer standpoint; they've [Goodell and others] made public statements on increasing minority representation in its coaching ranks, and it's increasing of the Rooney Rule to two candidates has shown tacit admission to such.

Yet now they have to go into a court with a straight face and take the opposite position.

Talk about being hoisted on a petard lol.

Too bad this is what you get when you make stupid statements to signal to the public or to be thought of properly. When you do what you believe you get real change.

Goodell doesn't believe in anything. He is just a hollow suit.
Goodell will never be as respected as the guy who came before him. That guy was a bad azz
