This is little more than a desperate act brought about by two parties' unwillingness to flinch. Byron don't want Baalke, and Shad don't like firing people. Eventually, one will get their way, maybe both, unfortunately.

From what I am gathering, it’s going to be khan who gets his way unfortunately
I’m sure there are lots of conflicting reports out there right now.

The lead writer for the Cards said it’s 99.9% Byron/Wilson.

Couple other guys connected to the situation are saying there’s a snag too FWIW. This has legit been a roller coaster

The snag is Khan.

That's all it is this point. Apparently he is basically stalling on the contract signings. He's waffling. Let's hope he waffles to the right side

Was this waffling late last night?

Hopefully he slept on it and is choosing to be on the right side.

When you're a Jags fan, nothing is ever easy.

Possibly, I got the message in my inbox about an hour ago.
Khan only has two options at this point:

1) Fire Baalke and hire Leftwich/Wilson and just accept it.
2) Start again, will a much more limited pool, likely having already been rejected by a handful of the options and having messed around two more people along with Arizona and Tampa Bay.

I mean the second option sounds so much worse surely he just backs down reluctantly.

If these rumours are true though it is putting a lot of pressure on BL to be a success if it does still go through

Khan has multiple options. The question is whether or not he has the intestinal fortitude to get it right this time, considering it will now be his 4th attempt at this since he bought the team back in 2011.
I can see Shad setting up a job fair tent in the parking lot or a Craigslist ad for when real candidates decide they don’t want any part of this mess.

Most of them already did.

They all told him they don't want to work with Baalke.

That should have ended this idiocy right then and there.

Byron wowed him and then had the fortitude to tell Khan what needs to happen.

Khan got his precious feelings hurt.

He thought it was bad before? He's gonna need to scrape the barrel of Division II college ranks at this point for someone willing to step in to this mess.

Shad better hope Byron's interview in Nola doesn't go well...

Or make a phone call this morning and make sure the interview doesn't happen

Testicular.

And I think that a lot of the fan unrest that started during the season will carry over if he chooses #2 (heh).
It may be the choice that convinces everyone a divorce is best.

I hate it.

Byrons side will make sure the perception is that the interview went well
Khan: I think that uh.....this is a nice way to get back at the fans for the clown show. By keeping them in the dark for a long period of time.
So when we drop the ball and Byron says he no longer wants to be here, who is our next number one candidate?

Worst case is he's dragging his feet until all the good candidates get hired so he can name Bevell as HC and announce a "new era of Jaguars' football".

Quite possible you are right on this one. I can't help but remember all the fan acclaim and celebration for the Urban hire. I bet he does too.
If nothing happens today, then the Jags are done. Nothing good is going to happen.

I like where you are going with that thought. Look, Bevell didn't ask for any of this. He became anchored to an intolerible coach in an intolerible situation and did his best to put a good product on the field. Once Meyer was jettisoned, he became the ServiceMaster guy tasked with cleaning up a toxic environment.
He responded well. Exit interviews showed that the players loved him. He also had to navigate a terrible covid outbreak prior to the Patriots game. He even gave up playcalling to Schotty so he could concentrate on the whole picture, a necessity as the head coach.
You really couldn't ask for anything more. He'd also likely bring back Cullen and Schotty, giving the team a much needed sense of familiarity.
Bevil sucks. There are so many coaches that would be better. Bevel. Dont know how to spell his name and done care. He sucks! He might be a nice guy so let him take his millions he made sucking and go coach somewhere else
