That's typically how it goes. Whether it's on a forum with aggressive thick skulls with brains softer than baby [BLEEP] or in the local or national media.

What's your point? It doesn't absolve the fact that they were up 14 [BLEEP] points with less than 3:30 to play.

It's fun to gamble sometimes. I get it. There was nothing to gain there mathematically that would have put us over the top. Other than meaningless stat padding for Fantasy Football buffs.

Not true, a first down there keeps us in possession of the ball and forces them to start burning TOs. As for your first sentence, that's part of the game. It's when people start saying things like "sit the starters since we're up 14" and "Sit TLaw this week so he can heal up" that it becomes absurd. As always, the play call was fine but the execution lacking.

Okay. Fair point. I am not in the "Sit Trevor or Starters with only a two possession lead" camp. I agree. That's absurd. As far as the situation, play call, execution, etc. It is what it is.

We're beating a dead horse at this point. We get a game on Thursday. We'll see how it goes I guess.
Is it me or does it feel like we've forgotten what it's like to be on the good side of a blowout win? We should be conservative, we should be aggressive, we should run the ball and chew clock but do it well enough that we don't give the Colts the ball to make it close.

I cant remember the last time we were up 25pts going into the 4th Q but Lawrence could get hurt on any play, especially with the Oline playing as it has.

Let's all take a deep breath. I think we all in hindsight would choose a different play knowing the outcome but it's not a disaster and doesn't seem to have cost us Lawrence. Everyone will learn from this one.

The fans of this team don't remember what it's like to be good, they have to find things to complain about.

It sadly feels that way at times. I get it, it's been a brutal ride being a Jags fan and even when it suddenly looks like we might be good (2017) it quickly crumbles to dust (2018). Even when we were ahead 25pts, there were still people in the gameday thread worrying we will lose.

My fear is that the flip side is people will suddenly have us as SB or bust and we aren't that team yet but we are a damn good team trending in the right direction with a great coaching staff. The good stuff this team does massively outweighs the negative.

I was excited when they hired Doug Pederson. Felt like that would be the right step in the right direction. Which it has been and should continue to be so. I felt like this team last year reminded me a little bit of the 1996 team when I was 8 years old. It was a fun run.

I still expect this team to be in the play-off discussion for at least the next 3+ years. Superbowl is not quite on my radar yet, BUT, anything is possible. I think the AFC is wide open personally. The Chiefs look like they're starting to fall down a notch or two. The Bills are inconsistent. The Dolphins are inconsistent.

We have the defense right now and it's getting creative with turnovers with really only one, good consistent pass rusher in Allen. This team could be on the verge of getting RED HOT at the RIGHT TIME here soon. Especially when they get past these next two games and get that much needed bye week.

Despite all of the pissing and moaning around here. I am excited to be a Jaguars fan again. We're not talking about having a top five, ten pick already in mid-October. It's awesome!

It's never SB or bust for me.  I realize that getting to the tournament is tough and the various factors that influence a single game and an entire season.  It takes a lot of skill and a lot of luck to make it to and win a Super Bowl.

That said, don't mistake the fact that we are Super Bowl contenders even this year.  I keep seeing people downplaying theirs and others expectations for this year.  We don't necessarily have All Pros everywhere, but we have great pieces in key areas and an apparently great locker room chemistry and leadership.  We're in the mix now and we'll be in the mix during the tournament as well.
I was at the bolts game last year and saw TL come from behind for the win!
It proved to me how good we were.

This season...we're a good team on the way to great things....
we're all growing as fans so enjoy the ride guys  Banana

I agree with you both. There's a lot to be excited about and it's great to see us winning games and seeing playoffs as a realistic possibility. Not just focusing on draft picks in October.

Playoffs are a lottery and every team has ups and downs and good and bad luck which can make or break a season. I'm enjoying the ride and love feeling this positive about the Jags and as long as we have Lawrence, it feels we have playoff hopes and then who knows.

Trev:

"...simple answer is I need to get down and protect myself..."
once we get rolling and trevor has more trust. we could be very dangeroud, we are scoring 30+ in 2 games and won by double digits in all 4 wins. with a 1/2 power offense.

great time to be a jaguar fan.

There's a time and place for aggressiveness. Not sure why people can't seem to wrap that part around their thick skull here.

Again, less than 3:30 in the game, you're in field goal range already, you're up by 14 points. That's the kind of nonsense call you see your child or grandchild do in Madden at home. Not in a real football game.

Being aggressive when it makes sense is fine. Doing it with a lead with that much time left in the game is not fine. Just like it wasn't fine when Doug rolled the dice on a 4th and 6 on our side of the football field before half time against Kanas City and gifted them points on a platter.

Situations matter.

Seriously. Run 3 dives, force them to use 3 times out. You're in FG range, That puts you up the magic three scores.

Since Trevor was sacked and didn't throw an incompletion, I believe we forced them to use all three TO on that possession.

A first down all but seals the win, but give me the Schottenheimer special (Bernie handoff to Mack on first, second and third downs) in that situation every single day. Same result (all three TO spent, minimal risk of lost yardage) without putting the QB at risk on a bootleg

It was a poor call for the situation. We didn't even need to burn much clock here or get a 1st down. Just get the 3 score lead.

What's kind of disappointing is Petersen tripling down on how right the call was when being questioned.

The call was fine. If he’d called a run between the tackles and ETN had blown out his knee you’d be saying they should have dropped back and attempted a pass. Fans are gonna fan.

That was a perfect time for Bigsby to be in as well. Play the long game, build some depth.

Yes because at that point you sit your starters so yes I would still be questioning ETN in and Trevor when you’re about to make it a 3 possession game. Go trot the backups out there and hand it off. It’s ok to be critical of the Jaguars staff.

It’s fine to be critical of the staff when they deserve it. I have been in the past. The situation where the colts had scored twice within a 6 minute span and appeared to have all the momentum is not the time to put in your backups. If they had and the field goal had been blocked, there’d be criticism the other way.

It worked out.
I'd let him sit until the bye. Even if we lose the next 2 nobody else is going to run away with the division. The worst thing possible would be to push it and injure it further.
