Russ, and I was a big DangeRuss guy, fell off a cliff. He's supposedly a bad team mate and with team 3 around awfully hard to work with... this was going on in Seattle which is why they moved on and are a better team minus an elite QB. Weird

whatever type of cancer Russ is.  And there is no doubt Russ is that passive-agressive, "I'm better than you, and my position within the organization proves it" toxic type of Piece of Dog [BLEEP] locker room disease an organization can rarely remove without destroying the entire team.

But do not try and lessen the fact that Nathaniel Hackett is a worthless offensive mind.  I've seen comatose Alzheimer patients who had severe head trauma from a head on car accident and were then given a XBox controller come up with better play calling on Madden than Hackett has in Jacksonville and Denver.

Hackett is the epitome of a nepotism hire that just continued to fail upward.

....some of us predicted that he was done before the trade, I don't think that's on the coach. I'll grant that Hackett was in way over his head, but I think Russ is done. And I love that DEN threw the farm at him, one less we gotta compete with for at least another year or two.

The Russell Wilson thing is perplexing.

There seem to be elements of time taking its toll on the player, and elements of "I just made 250 million and have 8 bathrooms in all three of my houses, this nobody coach can't tell me what to do"

I heard an analyst say that Wilson loves to improvise and leave the scripted play when the first read isn't there.
But that his best production came when OC Schottenheimer forced him to do that much less.
He doesn't have anyone forcing him to play within the play book and the play book was also suspect this year.
Now add in that he can't run around and improvise as well as he once did and you arrive at our current state.

Dude seems to be operating in his own little alternate reality.

Strange predicament for the broncos, and now their owner is saying the next HC will report directly to him, not the GM.
ooooff.

It has never felt so good to have landed a really good QB, a really good coach, and to have an owner who will spend to the cap to get it right.
Now we just have to manage the cap and TLs next deal.
World's better than a yet another rebuild.

Well at least now we can stop complaining about taking Anger over Wilson in the 3rd right.  Banana

I have no doubt in my mind that Russ is a complete weirdo and was taking a step back but even his stats last year would suggest he was leaps and bounds better than he is now. Hackett is a bad coach, we saw that first hand here.. let's not pretend because he had Aaron Rodgers for a couple years that he's good.

The ole Byron Leftwich syndrome hit us again.

Hackett is the epitome of a nepotism hire that just continued to fail upward.

People keep saying stuff like this after he took the Jags to the AFCCG and his offense was fifth in the NFL that season.
I don't think he pulled that off (with Blake Bortles!) by being worthless.

Hackett is at minimum a moderately talented offensive mind. He just never had any business becoming a head coach.
Especially being a new head coach with a 250 million dollar QB who considers himself above being coached.

History has shown us that is sometimes VERY difficult to discern which successful coordinators or position coaches are well equipped to become head coaches in the NFL. Teams go after the hot coordinator pretty often in coaching searches, and many of them just don't pan out.

It would require someone much smarter than me (and a lot of NFL front offices) to tell you why this keeps happening, but it is a common occurrence.
I knew this day would eventually come, get used to winning Jag fans, this team has a bonified franchise QB , finally…
Next, we want to see the other #1 pick, walker go beast mode soon.

And they're all in the AFC. The AFC is STACKED at the top, as far as young QB play goes. Most of them are in different Divisions as well. Winning the AFC is going to be a tough task for many years to come.

Really hope Drake Maye and Caleb Williams end up in the NFC.

Whether it's the benefit of cutting malcontented dead weight, a stategy and scheme change due to different personnel, the personal maturing of a young man or everything stated I can't say, but I would call the trade a catalyst.

Trevor has come out and said that London was the turning point, but good try to dump on JRob.

Malcontented dead weight? get outta here with that
Poor choice of words, at the least, in my part.
After having to endure Meyer, the injury and recovery process, and what seemed to me to be the emergence of Etienne getting more of the carries, I think Robinson wanted out and the FO obliged him.

I didn't know Lawrence had said what you related about London, thanks for the info.
The Top 3 Qb's are locked in their rankings. Lawrence/Herbert are really close IMO.

That first stat is nuts. Daylight is breaking as the sun is rising, Duval.

Herbert is a very good QB. This year has been his worst statistically, and it's still not terrible.

I just don’t get the same feeling with him at the other top guys. Outside the highlight real throw, I don’t think he hits enough base hits.

I wasn't saying Hack was a good offensive coach or not (however he went to the playoffs with Bortles iirc and was OC during a Rodgers MVP season)
Just not going to blame him for whatever Russ is doing right now. She'll of his former self so quick.

I mean... the players matter but you'd think Russ would offer more than Bortles and he wasn't given even a full season.
He was a scape goat imo.
But I'm not banging the table saying he.deserved the gig either.

Huh?

If you saw last season's season ending game against the Raiders, I don't think you would underrate him like you do.  The other guys have been able to display their abilities on the playoff stage.  He hasn't yet.  There's a reason "Chargering" is now an adjective-a verb-usually a negative.
Brock Purdy at #6?? I feel like maybe I've been living under a rock or something. Admittedly, I haven't seen them play, but I thought SF was winning in spite of having to start a 3rd string QB!
Seattle really suckered Denver. Hackett wasn't ready, but Wilson has fallen off a cliff, and I'm thinking everyone on the Seattle staff probably knew it. And now Denver will have to sucker some other coach to come in and try to salvage Wilson.
